I say that because sprint does in fact stretch maps to make them bigger which accentuates the hardware’s limitations. Also I miss maps with man cannons and gravity lifts. Halo 3 really nailed gameplay in my opinion. I think halo could go back to non sprint and do something similar to DOOM and increase base speed a little. Even though MCC is still riddled with bugs I keep finding myself playing it because it has much more interesting and exciting encounters. One of the things I love about classic halo is that everyones speed is the same which requires you to come up with flank routes and predict enemy movement if they decide to run away. This also comes from the map design. I don’t know… right now I say no sprint because I really miss the feel of the original trilogy; but maybe it is map design that is failing us right now… I guess all I can say is that I miss the way halo used to feel. It felt unique and not like every other FPS on the market. I probably would go play DOOM but all the gore and the story don’t really interest me like the halo universe.

incorrect,
maps aren’t stretched COMPLETELY to fit the size of past halo’s BMS
but, if we compare the speed and length in numbers, there is evidence to show maps have been stretched to a certain degree.
Just a heads up

Yes, but that also only refers to the remakes, most of it is the fact that scaling a map to two speeds dosn’t work.
I’m somewhat a new player to the franchise and started playing during the end of Reach and toward the start of Halo 4, Ive played all the games since. except the MCC until recently. Halo: Reach was one of my favorite halo games because it was my first but there is no denying that games since then aren’t true halo games. Even though it takes a while to find matches in MCC nowadays, when I did I realized how influential not having sprint was. In Halo 2 & 3 It became less about getting the most kills in the shortest amount time, and rather, having map control, holding power positions, and thinking about your next move, because you had the time to do so. I was hooked on H2A and spent hours playing the first day I got it an having a lot of fun I tried to find skill jumps, timed when the sniper rifle spawns, and admired how simplistic yet complex the game was. Yet I still had fun with halo 4 and 5 they were far from the best in the franchise. If playing only 10 to 20 hours of the old halo games made me realize how much sprint effected a players experience and how it overall meddles with the structure of a halo game I don’t understand why people still want it. Sadly, and I think its the truth correct me if im wrong, but sprint, loadouts, and the fast and hectic pace of halo now was implemented to attract a different audience. Which is very disappointing to see from a once great franchise that I was too young to experience the golden years of. Jeez this is a huge paragraph.

I see the misunderstanding here. You think sprint speed is the same as what the base speed used to be. It’s not. The Midship/BMS and Truth/Spriny speed have the same traversal time because sprint is faster and the map is bigger.
Honestly, one look at the map and it’s obviously is almost twice the size of Midship. If you can’t tell then just drop it. It’s a fact that’s acknowledged on both sides of the sprint argument, so if you don’t want to acknowledge it, then don’t, but don’t go around correcting people that the maps aren’t bigger when they are.

That only applys to the remade maps though. And still halo 3/4 do not have the same BMS

It’s the only direct comparison we have. If they didn’t have to make it that big, they wouldn’t have. It stands to reason the same goes for the other maps.
It’s threads like this that make me wonder where 343 gets their crazy ideas about “what players are asking for” and which way to take the franchise. We’re literally right here on the website, giving feedback LIVE and 24/7, yet things were allowed to go left with Halo 4 and 5.
May the players who suggested custom loadouts in H4 and 18m motion tracker in H5 Arena please step forward, we need to have a talk about your fan license.
But then again, judging from the Sprint series, such decisions were probably made with the help of Pro MLG players who clearly know what the fans at large want.

Actually you have the misunderstanding, Halo 5 maps are actually smaller (much smaller). but is magnified to give you the perception that sprint is fast when you are actually not sprinting fast at all. for an instance, a car close to the ground traveling 75 mph would seem faster visually than a plane at high altitude traveling at the same speed, it may be falsely perceived that the plane isn’t moving at all.
I wonder how many thousand times this post will be replied , until 343i makes something? I’m hoping for 2 types of gamelists: With and without sprint. Reach has kinda 2 different gamelists: All the others and Anniversary.

No, you’re both misunderstanding. It’s not something I’m going to go into detail again. It’s common knowledge at this point, so either accept it or don’t, it really doesn’t matter actually.

>

> Then you die, it’s kind of the point. It’s a shooting game, not a running away game. If your loosing a firefight it’s your fault , the other player won and deserves the kill
Don’t strawman. I never said it’s a running away game or that it should be one. By that logic I could basically say that any other game that doesn’t discourage it “that” much is a “running away game”.
No that isn’t the point. My point is, it doesn’t make sense how they have it currently designed with the mechanics. I feel like I’m more agile with playing games like battlefield than I do with a game like halo that the base player, is a super soldier. That’s my point.
Odds are if you’re losing a firefight while getting shot in the back, you will die. Running won’t save you, but having bullets hit you in the back, (let me remind you that bullets are faster than any runner) and slowing you down is ridiculous.
Retreats are a real life thing ya know?
I’d just be happy if the shield recharge just paused until I stopped running. It that so much to ask for? Not a whole shield timer reset. That’s overkill.
