Halo 3 really nailed gameplay in my opinion. I think halo could go back to non sprint and do something similar to DOOM and increase base speed a little. Even though MCC is still riddled with bugs I keep finding myself playing it because it has much more interesting and exciting encounters. One of the things I love about classic halo is that everyones speed is the same which requires you to come up with flank routes and predict enemy movement if they decide to run away. This also comes from the map design. I don’t know… right now I say no sprint because I really miss the feel of the original trilogy; but maybe it is map design that is failing us right now… I guess all I can say is that I miss the way halo used to feel. It felt unique and not like every other FPS on the market. I probably would go play DOOM but all the gore and the story don’t really interest me like the halo universe.

And when you bump the BMS and keep sprint, you eliminate the need to even sprint.

They also feel larger because they are larger.
As far as a lower BMS, you’ll have to show me some sort of proof. As far as I understand, Halo 5 has a similar BMS as the other games.
I believe it’s been established here, through measurements, that Halo 3 and 4 had the same BMS, so is there evidence of it being slower in Halo 5?
I guess you are talking just by you because i really like the advantage of sprinting without a perk because it makes more real the game, just think about this:
Who could be the soldier that just walk beetween a battle field? That’s so unreal, in my opinion sprinting makes Halo better

I couldn’t use my sword(I’m too op with it and only used nades) :D. Today I tried playing Halo 5 after a 6-month-break. The very first thing that felt very off was aiming, and I’m not talking about aiming other people, I mean just traversing the map was weird and aiming felt off.
> > > >
> > > > Then I felt all that was wrong back then, felt even worse now. Maps that have open areas not meant for battle, if I was not sprinting across one, I was extremely easy to pick off. Little pieces of cover for people to thrust behind. Strafing having absolutely no effect and thrusting is the only way to dodge bullets. Clamber causing the maps to have no flow, meaning you can go from any place to anywhere even if you’re on a completely different horizontal level. Wide halls and stairs So you can utilize thrusters. Ridiculous shotgun range and op smg. One guy kept running around the map picking up the smg and staking up extremely easy kills. People Spartan charging and ground pounding everywhere. Movement felt all over the place and very zigzagy.
> > > >
> > > > After all of this I tested the classic settings, no Spartan abilities, movement buffet to 120% to match sprinting speed, higher acceleration so that strafing made sense and I raised the 110% jump height to 120% so you can make all the jumps at least with crouch jumping. I can’t describe it, it just felt great, the game felt so much faster and more dynamic. Moving around was seamless and jumping didn’t acquire me to face the direction I’m jumping.

> >
> >
> > Thrusters are not that bad is strafing is relevant without them. As of now the slow movement and acceleration of Halo 5 coupled with high bullet magnetism make strafing futile. What I don’t like about thrusters is the escape-out-of-bad-situation they bring to the table. While I was playing Halo 3 there were moments where I thought to myself " oh damn I could have escaped that death by thrusting sideways or I would have made the jump if had thrusters" then I noticed that those were the moments I would has robbed my eneI my a fair kill or that I made a huge mistake and would get no punishment from it. That is how I feel Halo 5 thrusters act as of now. People keeping distance and keeping close to corners to thrust away or face someone unprepared and just thrust away. The ‘think before you act’ is absent from Halo 5. It is strongly going towards the CoD style of first see, first kill.
>
>
> I agree with halo is becoming more of a first to see gets the kill. Truly if it were up to me I wouldn’t include thrusters but people seem hellbent on adding a movement mechanic and I think that would be the better option.
If I have to choose the less bitter of the two poisons I have to go with thrusters. In reality, why these mechanics that remove you from combat never work with Halo is because of longer kill times; the game only slows down when two people start a battle and neither of them die, and this happens more often in Halo 5 (this is why they lowered TTK). I said this before and I’ll say it again. All of these movement options will work better when they remove shields and lower the TTK to 0.4s. I just hope they’ll also remove ‘Halo’ from the title.

I really have no clue what your first compilation of words mean. Are you suggesting lore and game-play must go hand in hand? Just a simple read of this thread shows why tying the two together is problematic and antithetical to game design.
I don’t think so, i like the ability to sprint, it makes better halo

Made a new account to say this or did you just start Halo and this was the first thing that came to mind? No, I have never walked between a battlefield. I’ve always had a running speed in every direction coupled with a deadly accuracy with any weapon I’ve held. That’s what me a deadly weapon of war, a true spartan.
Halo 5 is still Halo even with the sprint feature. Halo will never be “the old Halo” again, unless 343 handed it back over to Bungie.

And Bungie is not taking Halo back because they want to work on Destiny
A true Spartan doesn’t need to talk like a God, because a hero could be Noble, this account is new because sombody stoled my other account, i hate this people but… What ever… It’s just my opinion, if you feel better i think you can show me on the Battle field not in your comments

Yes it is Halo, but it’s not what people expect from a “Halo” title, just like the current Call of Duty.

Even with Bungie heading development it would not be the “old Halo” just look at Halo Reach. I’m still enjoying the game and If you want to experience the old Halo, just fire up the MCC. You have ALL of Halo to access.

It’s fine if you like it, but please elaborate on why/how you think it makes Halo “better”.
we need moderators taking down people who simply say I like/dislike sprint without giving any construction.
If it’s your opinion, that’s cool, but with 301 pages down the line, we can’t still be saying this.

Halo 4 did not have the same BMS in standard multiplayer, modes like forge and some non ranked modes had 110 BMS, standard arena had a normal 100 BMS, which even though it was the same number, it was shown on maps like pitfall to be slower,( someone posted a full video comparison earlier). Take truth in h5, walking any given distance in h3 is the same as sprint in any distance in h5. The maps feel slower due to the lowered BMS, but are for the most part the same size.
