With the direction the FPS genre/market has evolved (Call of Duty with wall running, thruster boost jumps, thruster power slides, etc.) and even most 3rd person shooters have sprint (Ghost Recon, GTA V, etc.) We as players have done this to Halo because we have supported a market of “sprinting” titles. Now there is no undoing what has been done. It’s simple economics. Adam Smith always spoke about the market being “laize faire” and we are now reaping the benefits. Most titles have sprint/dynamic movement and as long as we keep buying them they will continue to be made.

Firstly I disagree. 15,000,000 is extremely impressive. When was the last multiplatform title outside of CoD and BF that sold that much? It’s also how many people have purchased the game not monthly active users.

Either way my point still stands on the fact that it certainly isn’t being rejected.

Don’t remove it damn

Sales don’t make player counts.

Fastest selling game in china, 30% of game time played in South Korea internet rooms. I played yesterday and had no issue finding matches so the retention seems pretty good although I’ll need to see if I can dig that metric up. All in all seems like it still has a significantly large player count.

Explain why. There’s no good reason to keep it if the only reason is just cuz…

I think it’s an interesting point. Back in the days of halo, I feel like not having sprint put everyone on a more skill based level. Everyone was equal, and what made you stand out was your skill. Granted it’s still kind of the same way today, but by not having sprint it brings back the element of teamwork more so. You can’t just go in guns blazing and then do some damage and run back out. Halo is a team based game and requires skill to win.

It would take forever to move around maps

Wrong, good map design and a 120 BMS and it would be easily faster than halo 5

YET YOU PLAYED THE BETA

Please stop saying that there’s an option to choose whether to sprint or not. Maps are larger to accommodate for sprint thus punishing players not sprinting. Bullet magnetism is increased to accommodate for maps being so large. There can be no unique maps such as Guardian, Shrine or Lockout with sprint and that’s a pretty heavy price to pay for a poor mechanic.

Sprint is a bad design choice and doesn’t fit in the Arena Shooter Halo.

Unless of course, they increased base movement speed to be the same as sprint speed. Or scaled down the maps.

Dosn’t mean anything except for he bought the mcc and played the beta when it was available

wouldn’t he have thought halo wasn’t halo during halo 4 and when he saw the beta gameplay if you dont look at beta gameplay before you play then it’s just plain stupidity and if he thought halo isnt halo why did he play the beta

To form his own opinion instead of piggybacking off of someone else.

Also to prove he doesn’t blindly hate or accept anything. He’s played the game he made his decision. At least he isn’t someone who hates something because it is popular.

And there’s the problem. Any time Halo does try to set a trend, people complain about how they wish it were simpler like it was in previous Halos.

Which can also be attributed to the decrease in players, due to the console market, Xbox is not the most popular console this time round, players changed over to PS4. YOu could say certain feautures like sprint turned people off the franchise, but when you also have either A) A divided player count due to the MCC and B) Less Xbox players due to moving to another console all together; that’s a bit source of a player population drop versus “I don’t like sprint, so I’m boycotting Halo until they fix it”

I’m sorry, but I don’t think you understand how sprint affects the game that well. It doesn’t make halo take any less skill. Spartan charge is a different story.
