> Doom also has an increased FOV. I think it’s either 95 or 105.

You just made a lot of assumptions. I never said what the speed should be or what the FoV should be.

Perhaps it should be the current sprint speed or perhaps it should be a little slower than that. Testing would have to be done to determine the best speed. Either way, constantly moving at the speed maps are built for makes the game faster paced. As does the ability to always be offensive.

Dooms FoV has no effect on what I said. Increasing Halo 6’s FoV would result in people feeling like they’re going faster.

Ok, well read up on the problems, that way you’re not scared off when someone asks you to explain your claims. If you do that, things will probably go better next time.

> Of course the current date is relevant. The issue is that the game mechanics that worked and felt fresh in 2001 simply do not anymore. Back then, sprint was not common in FPS and the general population did not expect it. Now in 2016, sprint is ubiquitous with shooters and players come to expect it. Further more, additional mobility options are actually becoming the norm IE sliding, thrusting, wall running etc. To launch a shooter in 2016 where players just walked around slowly like it was 2001 would have ZERO appeal to the general population that didn’t grow up with Halo CE, Doom, Quake or Counter Strike. The problem with no sprint purists, is that they expect the world to cater to their nostalgic expectations of what Halo is allowed to be, and simply refuse to expand that definition. It’s stubborn and entitled. They need to realize that there’s an entire generation of players that just want something fast and fun. Halo 5 is certainly those things. So I say it again, have fun living in 2001 and complaining about sprint instead of enjoying a great game.

Remember those cartoons where a gauge of some sort would reach the max values, wringe and cringe, glass explode and the pointer goes even further? In this case it’s the irony-gauge.

Adding sprint to Halo CE wouldn’t magically make it Halo Reach, Halo 4 or Halo 5. So removing sprint wouldn’t magically make the next Halo one of the trilogy games.

Also, doing what is the norm kills game development.

Incorrect, games as early as the mid 90s had sprint. So technically we are going back by adding sprint, but the age of the mechanics aren’t what matters, it’s the effect they have that matters. And I’m sure everyone here is aware of the bad effects sprint has by now

I disagree with you- I have no problem debating with people when they’re respectful and open-minded about it. Some people aren’t here to do that- they want to attack people just for having an opposition point of view instead.

Then why is it so hard to tell me why it won’t fix anything? It’s not much of a discussion when you refuse to explain your baseless claims. You end up being no better than the people that come in here with a one liner never to return.

No, just no.

I hate how sprint is basically discouraged in this game.

  1. If you sprint while under fire it slows you down to a halt.
  2. If you decide to sprint after your shield has recently been damaged, your regeneration RESETS instead of just pausing to wait till you walk again.
  3. Retreating is basically impossible when in a firefight because while your getting shot in the back. You can’t run even though your spamming the sprint button like a mad man. Mind you this is a spartan super soldier. “hey guys I’m in a fight I can’t win. I’ll just walk away like I’M NOT DYING…”

Mind you this is a spartan super soldier. “hey guys I’m in a fight I can’t win. I’ll just walk away like I’M NOT DYING…”

Then you die, it’s kind of the point. It’s a shooting game, not a running away game. If your loosing a firefight it’s your fault , the other player won and deserves the kill

This is dumb.
If you dont like sprinting then dont sprint…
“but wahhh the maps are purposely stretched out for sprint”
Warthogs…

I like sprint

Taking away sprint will take away spartan charge which I enjoy the spartan charge.

Where, btb vehicles suck and for some reason 343 decided arena maps can’t have occasional vehicles anymore

The majority of the community hates Spartan charge so I don’t think removing it will be a problem to most people

I agree with you both on this one… sprint can be a pain when it reset when your are not walking, but during a shoot out… yes the enemy deserve kill, but by yourself with no one around… charge should recharge even while running when you aren’t under fire.

I like Headshots Crazy Head Hunters

I don’t really care how it’s achieved, but Spartans need to be able to move quickly, be it sprint or base movement speed.
