Slow mo has nothing to do with the discussion.

I dunno, Halo without sprint feels like slow mo to me…

I started playing the old Halo games again on MCC and I found it fast. Since 343 made the maps “up sized” for sprint. I said this in a previous post but Midship goes tue same distance when walking. But in Halo 5, Truth was upsized making Sprint going to that destination the same time as you can walk on Midship in that same destination.

Do not spam and make a discussion on this thread. What do you think of Sprint and do you think it should be kept or removed and why.

Midship isn’t the best example because it’s an extremely small map. I would understand having no sprint for game modes with smaller maps. Larger maps like Headlong took and insane amount of time to move around… BTB maps on Halo 3 were almost unplayable for me on MCC because of lack of sprint (I’ve never called anything in Halo truly “unplayable,” but that was the closest- I would quit the build on MCC BTB solely for the sake of lack of sprint on most of those Halo 3 maps)

Well, Halo without sprint a decade ago feels slow. We’re talking about the future, not the past.

He’s talking about not having sprint. Which is like walking in slow mo.

I honestly don’t know why I responded to this.

Well increasing the base movement speed doesn’t sound much better. Games only feel fast like that when you bump it up to a ridiculous speed like doom but then you got ridiculously huge maps as well.

> Well, Halo without sprint a decade ago feels slow. We’re talking about the future, not the past.

The MCC came out less than two years ago and once it was fixed it revived most of those games for a lot of us. I thought most of the games were just as fun now as they were back then- especially many of the maps in 1, most of 2, and all of 4. Aside from multiplayer, all the campaigns were also incredible to run back through again. Halo 3 multiplayer was not a lot of fun for me- particularly the BTB maps because the vehicles weren’t very good and the lack of sprint was all but unbearable on maps like Avalanche and Sandtrap. Admittedly however, the lack of sprint wasn’t so much of a game changer on CE and 2- particularly when playing on the smaller maps (Thanks to balanced maps that were (mostly) smaller than they are in today’s games, better hit boxes for ranged weapons (Compared to 3), and vehicles that weren’t as weak as they were in 3).

I just couldn’t imagine having to walk all the way across BTB maps in Halo 4 and Halo 5- God forbid doing that in Warzone either… So when you’re talking about the future it seems that keeping sprint is the proper move for 343i- based on the increasing sizes of the maps. I don’t think it would hurt to have an Arena-type of “throwback” game mode that excludes sprint for smaller maps but outside of doing that for a select game mode or two, the notion of removing sprint altogether in future Halo games is a terrible idea.

Are you still living in 2007? There’s nothing to suggest a 2018 Halo would be slow without sprint.

Again slow mo has nothing to do with this discussion. What do you not understand?

Increase the base speed and the increase the field of view a bit. Boom. Done. Problem solved. You move faster and your FoV would make you feel like you’re moving faster than you really are all without making the maps giant.

It took me the entirety of 2 seconds to think that up.

Lack of sprint wasn’t so much of a game changer on CE and 2- particularly when playing on the smaller maps. I couldn’t imagine having to walk all the way across BTB maps in Halo 4 and Halo 5- God forbid doing that in Warzone either… So when you’re talking about the future it seems that keeping sprint is the proper move for 343i- based on the increasing sizes of the maps. I don’t think it would hurt to have an Arena-type of “throwback” game mode that excludes sprint for smaller maps but outside of doing that for a select game mode or two, the notion of removing sprint altogether in future Halo games is a terrible idea.

You seem to be under the impression that they make maps before figuring out the gameplay. It’s actually the opposite.

So let’s increase base movement speed to make up for sprint so that you won’t walk around super slow. And you know have to overhaul the game anyways

What I don’t understand is how he said used slow mo as an embellishment and that went right over your head.

And yet it’s wrong. The maps are huge in doom because of the speed. If you increase the base movement speed the map size will increase as well. Haven’t you been saying that sprint has made maps larger? What do you think an increased base movement speed do?

P.S.
Doom also has an increased FOV. I think it’s either 95 or 105.

FPS MP games are always built around the players movement, so why is that a problem without sprint?

No thanks - not worth it. You’ve demonstrated that you’d rather go after people themselves than the ideas they post so I’d rather not get baited into something like that today.

Sprint should stay in future Halo games and I’ve posted my thoughts on why that it. If you can’t accept that most people want sprint then I don’t know what to tell you.
