thrusters are infinetly worse then sprint imo…thruster are the true real get out of jail free card…it affects the gameplay more then all of the abilities combined…in my experience anyway

What does this have to do with anything? If I say yes, will you ask me what playlists I played? How many matches? What rank I qualified for? I’m sorry, but I’m not taking the bait. Comment on the topic at hand or don’t, I don’t care, but I will not have this thread turn into a stats-discussion…

I like the old mechanics… I wish 343 would have just done a stand alone H2A with ALL maps and game types remastered instead of the limited version we got. I would probably be playing it more than H5. But I feel reverting to the old mechanics would hurt the series more than help it.

It’s not the only change. Parroting a false statement does not make it true. It’s not even necessary to go into details of weapon balancing or map design: The fact that you cannot shoot while sprinting alone is proof that it changes the way the game is played. Being able to shoot while moving and not being able to shoot while moving is like day and night. Ignoring such a ridiculously easy to see difference indicates a severe case of denial…

… What is wrong with you?
Sprint has three direct effects on gameplay:
faster movement
movement is limited to the direction the player is facing
the player cannot fire/throw/meleeYour claim was that Sprint’s only effect on gameplay was faster movement. When I said that was false, you took it to mean that I said Sprint didn’t have that effect on gameplay. You then resorted to nothing but derogatory jabs when I mentioned how Halo initially played… and you completely ignored the fact that Halo had greater success when Sprint was absent (pre-Reach).
Now you’re either genuinely dense or deliberately messing with me, again claiming that faster movement is the only effect Sprint has on the game. Either way, you’re still wrong in saying that.

Halo had greater success pre sprint due to lack of.competition… the population started to fall when more games, some of which had sprint, came on the market.

Yeah it’s a difference but not some game breaking difference as a some make it.

The only differences is not being able to shoot… so you have to stop sprinting and shoot and walk… faster movement… Limits movement to one direction?? I must have missed the part where you could move in multiple direction in previous games… what like your armor went one way and your body went.in.the other?

It’s not even necessary to go into details of weapon balancing or map design: The fact that you cannot shoot while sprinting alone is proof that it changes the way the game is played. Being able to shoot while moving and not being able to shoot while moving is like day and night. Ignoring such a ridiculously easy to see difference indicates a severe case of denial…

It might have not for you, and whether you believe it or not, but I’m actually happy for you. But I literally know dozens of people who stopped playing Halo due to sprint, none of which ever contributed to a poll or posted on a forum to make themselves heard, but just left the franchise altogether. Sprint did break the game for me, it broke the game for those people as well and going by population and sales, this is not an isolated occurrence. (No, H5G did not have more competition than Halo 3, stop spreading false information.)

I must have missed the part where you could move in multiple direction in previous games… what like your armor went one way and your body went.in.the other?
Genuinely dense, I suppose.
In previous Halo games (and “modern” ones when not sprinting), players can move in any horizontal direction without needing to adjust which way they’re facing. You can walk left, right, backwards, and diagonally. You can strafe, etc. while shooting at a target.
While sprinting, you can only move forward. That is to say you can only sprint in a different direction by facing said direction. Sprint limits movement to the direction the player is facing.
As for your comment to Celestis about the changes brought by Sprint not being game-breaking, it doesn’t have to break the game to be problematic. Sprint is game-changing and there hasn’t been any good reason for why that change was needed or how this change is positive. It doesn’t break the game that is Halo 5, but it does change it to something other than a Halo game.

I guess you haven’t figured out how to use your thrusters yet to.change direction if you need to… or simply stop sprinting and change direction… so basically it’s to complicated for you
Also yes you can curve while sprinting you don’t have to go in a straight line.
> I guess you haven’t figured out how to use your thrusters yet to.change direction if you need to… or simply stop sprinting and change direction… so basically it’s to complicated for you
Holy -Yoink- dude.
When sprinting you are forced to, more or less, move in a straight line and don’t have access to weapons.
With a fast base speed you can move freely in any direction and have full access to weapons.
What about that is hard to comprehend? Are you actually this dense or are you just being stubborn for the sake of being stubborn?
Sprint affects map design more than ANYTHING else maps like Lockout or Asylum are impossible to recreate perfectly 'cuz they need to be stretched out compensate for sprint due to the increased speed 'cuz of this increase in map space the Close Quarters verticality of these maps are drastically altered.
Sprint is the only movement ability that should be in Halo sprint does needs to be re balanced no infinite sprint this is why spartan charging and players rushing and getting killed is such a problem.

Spartan Charge is what upsets the balance in the Golden Triangle; that addition is what changes encounters with other players. I like sprint but I think if it was not infinite and their was no Spartan Charge, it would me more tolerable.

Considering that you need to sprint in order to do a charge; the mechanics are related. How is it steering the conversation in another direction? Because I have a different point of view? I like Sprint for the most part, it really has not impacted on how I engage targets with my weapons or grenades. But Sprint has an impact on how I deal with my melee engagements, which has an effect on the Golden Triangle.
That’s my issue with Sprint; it should not be a direct way to engage my target (with spartan charge) but it should also be used in how I deem fit in order to to get into a better position, get a power weapon faster then my opponent or get to an objective.

Spartan Charge is only tied to sprint, it could very well not be tied to sprint, it is pretty much a “biological unrelated” mechanic, it’s just “adopted”.
How do you get to a power weapon or objective faster than your opponent when they have the exact same abilities?
