I think he was suggesting 343 be replaced with CA. Which would be fine with me since the guy responsible for Halo 2’s MP is the founder of CA.

> arena multiplayer at first I thought a no sprint playlist might be optimal but hear me out. I pretty sure the new spartan abilities (save -Yoinking!- spartan charge) would be GENERALLY accepted in a halo game if they werent accompanied by sprint it would feel more competitive more strategic and would also still be recognizable to the fine tuned experience we got in halo 5. Warzone and customs would be a whole other beast entirely retaining ALL the features that made halo 5 successful would keep warzone great and would also allow more options for custom games, for those people that actually wanted to play in a sprint arena type setting they could actually fire up the in game custom game lobby adjust the filter and be good to go! lets face it, sprint has NO place in competitve halo and to argue that it does would just be absurd. this would allow arena maps to continue to be designed the PROPER way and please the vets and basically everyone whos willing to give it a chance and you wouldnt lose much of your sprint loving audience at all because there would still be sprint in the game it would just take a backseat!
> Thoughts? :3

I don’t like any of the Spartan abilities but I agree with most of everything else, also their are other problems to address such as splitscreen and playable elites

> The reason why sprint was added to halo was to make it more fast paced. Newer generations of gamers (me included) who didn’t grow up with halo are used to fast paced games such as battlefield, cod, and just about every other fps. It’s hard for a slow paced game like the older halos and even the newer ones to attract these gamers so they added sprint. To be honest I like sprint when I don’t have it I feel like a turtle with a gun. Sure you might not like it but your not everyone. 343 also has to appeal to the newer generations as well. Don’t get me wrong I had fun playing halo 3(my first halo and firs Xbox game) but ounce I got to other games like battlefield and even cod I noticed how slow the gameplay actually was.

Halo: CE is the fastest halo game ever and it does not have sprint…

“Make Halo great again!” Just joking, I know you hate that stuff.

Doom puts the lie to this nonsense. It’s not popular and has no sprint.

I didn’t play Doom but I know a bit about it, what was so bad about the multiplayer?

we should have a classic playlist not a complete rechange to halo.

I think it’s hilarious blasting a spartan dead sprint, with a perfect, running across open ground, trying to Spartan charge a teammate.

Sprint has its place and usefulness if applied in the correct situation, ie: super sliding past a group and picking them off from behind. H5 has evolved into the best of the series, only lacking in maps. I love the mechanics, I hate Spartan charge, but it’s there, I use it when I can.

Ive been a vet of halo since CE, I’ve played every call of duty. Halo is not COD, it never will be. It takes actual skill to drop kids in this game with any consistency and sprint has nothing to do with it.

It had loadouts and no weapons on map were the big things, I think. Nothing to do with actual player mechanics as far as I know.

Everyone and their mother says the new Doom game is one of the fastest paced games out now and it has no sprint. The masses don’t know what they want, they only think they know, that’s why it’s 343’s job to show you want you want. Making a fast paced game without sprint is insanely easy, but nobody - including the devs - cares to think for themselves.

The only difference between the two of you on the matter is that he hasn’t play the original games and doesn’t understand how sprint isn’t necessary and you have played the original games and you don’t understand how sprint isn’t necessary. That ignorance is what makes what he said flawed.

You still haven’t explained why you dislike the sprint mechanic in Halo.

Although i cant find actual player numbers for xbox if steam is anything to go by then numbers have dropped in a big way. Also its ranking on twitch consistently puts it below H5 despite it being multi-platform.

Graph is here

I think that “bakeicecreamman” meant the multiplayer of Doom.

Here is a better place to discuss that. (yep good old self advertising)

I really don’t want to go through explanations anymore. I mostly stopped after Halo 5 came out. I’ve been arguing why it’s bad for the series for years and it gets tiring, so now I just assume everyone knows the arguments, because as I’ve said, they’ve been made for years. I’ll usually only explain why someones wrong about something specific they say about sprint, but if I were to lay out every reason I didn’t like sprint it would take too long and not be worth the effort.

Tbh I think no sprint would help with Halo multiplayer’s pacing, and I used to be pro sprint leading up to Halo 5’s release.

Main and quick reason.
