The sprint discussion thread

And you want a Halo Reach clone. What’s your point? The difference is that one of the groups wants Halo back, the other wants sci-fi COD.

See, I can generalize too.

I’m questioning the legitimacy of these posters now. I don’t want to believe that someone can be this ignorant. Point me someone, anyone, in this entire site, who said they want a Halo 3 2.0. I’ll wait.

We get it, you’ve been wrong multiple times. Why do feel the need to keep reminding us?

Do not remove sprint that makes it faster past and a good game

Remove sprint that makes game clunky. Why do you want fast paced game from Halo. There are plenty of games are fast, Halo doesn’t need to be like that.

If you think games with no sprint are slow try a good game of ce

CoD is a twitch shooter with a super low ttk while every fps Halo has had a fairly high ttk. I don’t even like CoD and I like how H5 plays.

You can see how well the franchise has done when Reach added armor abilities, Halo 4 made loadouts and Halo 5 added Spartan abilities. Also all of these games had some sort of a sprint mechanism changing how the arena shooter played. You can clearly see the games did great, population only keep on growing and Halo is still to this day, a console seller like Halo 1-3 were.

> For those who like Sprint, it’s a waste of a playlist because it doesn’t have a mechanic that they want. For those who dislike Sprint, it does very little to address the influence of the mechanic on everything from weapons’ damage & shield strength/recovery to general map design. Even if new maps are created specifically for such a playlist, there are still problems with the gametypes and gameplay settings (what modes should be available, how fast should the BMS be, etc.)

> Understand that the “tactical trade-off between mobility and combat” approach can be found in so many FPS games, whereas so few games encourage players to use both simultaneously like Halo does (and notice that those few play radically different from each other and Halo).

Great point, as of you have to learn to control the way you move with sprint around your environment do to being caught off guard by an enemy. You won’t just sprint around a corner singing like the grunt from Reunion! You’ll be forced to reckon whether or not you should sprint around the corner, or take a quick look incase someone is scoping out.
If you die from sprinting enough, you’ll learn when to sprint, and how to use it. Therefore, you get sprint and get a tactic advantage over other players if they do not use it wisely. It will keep you sharp and always cautious of what lies around the next corner.
Your thoughtful reply gave me the neccasary knowledge to think twice about my opinion.

I never said no sprint is slow. Sprint is there to make players feel like fast. Halo 2 is pretty fast in my opinion. I can’t play Doom, because it’s too fast.

> What’s funny about this thread is that the anti-sprinters just want a H3 clone even though they get mad when someone points it out! H3A is probably coming out next fall and you can have your no-sprint Halo.:relaxed:

And then we’re back to this.

Nope, that’s not the case. Anti-Sprinters want a Halo game that innovates from the OG trilogy games without adding sprint. I’d also do with going away from the ADS visuals and having the original Zoom mechanics back. Well that’s all those whonagree with me atleast.

You know, my post way back in this thread about what I’d like to see went pretty much silently by, a few people noticed it. But it’d be Halo 3 2.0 Right?

Even then, what’s wrong with wanting Halo 3 2.0?
I see an attempt to downplay what you think others supposidely want, making their opinions bad and yours good because those wanting 3 2.0 is backwards and regressive. Wasn’t this the exact thing you yourself felt like you were experiencing earlier and then complained about? People putting themselves above your opinion saying it’s crap, wrong and so forth and that their opinion is better?

I don’t sprint near enemies, but these are some big maps, the removal of sprint would make matches and campaign take forever.
On a side note, Spartans went through several augmentations, muscle mass, vision, stamina, and such, but were originally created to fight Insurrectionists, maybe add them as an enemy type, Halo Wars had them, but I mean for FPS.
Yes, I know the unnamed V.I.P who wanted Vigilant to be made was Jun, the only Spartan other than John to survive Reach. He had to escort Dr. Halsey off of Reach.

Otherwise, if sprint is removed, then the Spartan’s training and augments wouldn’t make sense, because of the augmented stamina and muscle mass. Trained since they were 6-7 on Reach. I remember Kelly’s file, as well as Jorge’s, put in Dr. Halsey’s diary that comes with Reach.

Maps and campaign would be accommodated for no sprint, not Halo 5 of course, but following games.
You don’t need to make sense in gameplay.
Jun and Noble-6 went prone in Reach, but we can’t do it in-game. It’d make sense for a super soldier to prone, but we don’t do it ingame. Another thing woulf be corner leaning and having far better survivability against ballistic weaponry.

Cannot create an argument, searches for some he finds ignorant. Disagrees with said arguments and says their ignorant. Gives no reason as to why they are wrong. Says people making wrong posts have to prove him wrong.
Congratulations, you just post bumped a thread you support with no coherent reasoning as to why you needed to. You are now a legitimate anti-sprinter.

We get it. You hate sprint so you decide to be an -Yoink- to others just so you can to spam this post to the top 3. Why do you keep reminding us?

H6 manual: “after long years of training, going through genetic augmentation and wearing a high-tech armor, spartans are able to fire their weapon while running at full speed again (just like they were able to do during the human-covenant war displayed in HCE-H3 before the dev team thought it was necessary to include mechanics just because it was genre standard at that time)”
→ Tada! no sprint required…

Because we’re here arguing about it. If there’s no downsides, then there’s no argument.
