The sprint discussion thread

1st for page 20

Sadly sprint ruins the ‘golden Halo triangle’ and so does ground pound and thruster… I think Spartan Abilities should just be a single armour ability that you can use twice a life that includes sprint, thruster and pound

Oh really OP? EVERYONE would be happy if there was no sprint? Including me and thousands of people who like it?

please stop complaining about sprint

I dont think banning topics is a good idea but i do wish people would stop posting about it, its annoying and i cant stop reading them!

The removal of theese type of posts will make the community a community again.

PS: it is a joke, nothing against theese posts, honestly

Yeah.

sprint is terrible and hurts the game, but h5 has so many problems its a waste of time talking about it they need to start again.

They shouldn’t be banned, rather lock all new ones and redirect all sprint discussion to one thread. Just like what has been done with split screen and elites

Heck, even make it a sticky thread, it seems popular enough. At least then it wouldn’t be cluttering up the front forum page all the time. There would be an added benefit too. The topic would then have its own little permanent quarantined home to fester in.

yes. once you understand how sprint negatively effects the game (you would learn this by being forced to play without sprint) any intelligent person will see that HALO plays better without it.

Its too late to fix it sprint has been around for too long, insted of getting rid of it add something to it

hahahahaaa i agreed with you

yes please

From another thread:

> I believe Sprint has two inherent flaws in which it fundamentally changes the rules of engagement.
>
> For one, players are able to disengage from combat after putting map geometry between themselves and their attackers, and that’s normal/fine, However, when you add Sprint to the equation it allows the player to widen the distance from their opponent. For the other player to have a decent chance at finishing what was started, he/she must also sprint (and lose the ability to fire) just to regain/maintain a line-of-sight on his target. If the pursuer stops sprinting to take a shot and the escapee doesn’t die, the distance between them has gotten even greater and the escapee is rewarded/spared. If the escapee does die while sprinting away, the encounter ends with only one player really fighting it through and having taken longer than it should have.
>
> Secondly, it has to be taken into account for map design. What this means is that for the mechanic to not destroy the pacing between engagements, distances must be extended. I’m not going to used the hackneyed argument of “Sprint is an illusion” because ultimately that’s not true. While sprinting, you do move faster and maps are made to keep that speed increase from having players engage too quickly/frequently, and that’s where the problems stem from. Since maps are designed to accommodate for Sprint, they are compromised from what would be best at base speed. That is to say, the map layouts are compromised from what works best as the speed that combat occurs at.
>
> A Sprint mechanic gives you a choice between one option that takes effort/skill to survive and another that takes very little effort/skill to survive, and the odds of surviving are generally greater when choosing the second option. You cannot fault a player for making that choice, but you can fault the mechanic that allows that choice.

No they should not remove sprint and they won’t. What they should do is create an option for people to play the campaign and have a multiplayer playlist where there are no abilities like the old games but they shouldn’t remove any of them.

OK so if some has played earlier halo games but doesn’t agree with you then they lack intelligence?
