The sprint discussion thread

-Yoink!-, would we be able to strafe at sprint speed as well?

You must not be familiar with the history of Halo or Doom.

The irony is real, beyond real. This is exactly what this whole conversation is about, Halo catering towards other games fans and mechanics ex: H4 loadouts, sprint in general. Halo went away from halo, you do see this?

That’s exactly what Doom is though. Even the custom games on Halo 5 that are designed to play like doom play exactly like that. Increased movement speed with literally no other change. Most popular one by WyvernZu is linked here.

Yet most players want sprint removed not an additional substitute if that’s what I think you’re talking about.

1- I think -Yoink!- is insinuating the movement mechanic that we were used to, to be re-implemented albeit with a bump to the BMS.

2- Isnt it ironic to see the disconnect between halo/doom and halo changing is now somehow bad?

I simply don’t understand how this argument is still going, and I’m in the anti-sprint crowd. No matter how many times and different ways we explain better alternatives, the pro-sprint crowd will not even try to understand. Do you not get why we hate sprint? It’s not that we don’t want to move faster, I thought Halo 3 was really slow paced myself. The changes in level design and combat engagement are simply ruined by it. If we could have a streamlined movement speed, this game would benefit greatly from it.

This is what halo used to implement, no sprint with a max movement speed with thumbstick all the way forward. All that gets tweeks is the base movement speed. This is what halo was known for, along with the memorable maps.

Then you would know that Halo was extremely influenced by Doom/Quake, and how Doom plays now - as far as player mechanics go - is how Halo use to play. So, Halo wouldn’t be turning into Doom as much as it would be turning back into Halo.

Except on many levels Halo deviated from Doom and is it’s own distinct entity not meant to play like exactly Doom. The New Doom plays nothing like how Halo used to play. If I wanted to play Doom I would play Doom. I want to play Halo. I like how Halo plays, yes even Halo 5.

As far as I’m concerned Halo doesn’t play like any other FPS shooter out there and I LIKE that. I want to play Halo. I don’t want Halo to feel like a copy of Doom or Call of Duty or CS. Again, if I wanted to play those games I would buy a copy.

Halo and Doom are both Arena shooters; however they play vastly different. Doom has a huge emphasis on in-map pick-ups which encourage a certain style of movement and play. Halo has many, many, factors that set it apart from Doom. Halo is always molded around its golden triangle: guns, grenades, and melee. Halo has shields which recharge, setting it apart from Doom’s health pick up system. Halo has signature power weapons, which, when paired with masterfully crafted maps, create a truly authentic game experience. Halo also has even starts, and a history of great precision weapon shootouts which are extremely addictive. Just because I’m proposing Halo adopt a faster base movement speed, (yes similar to what Doom has done) it doesn’t mean Halo would turn into Doom. In turn, it would actually improve upon and quicken the pace of the original games, drawing in new players with that the hunger for speed, current players who love the franchise, and appealing to old players who may have left because of the direction the series’s movement was going.

It’s funny because the COD series is turning into other game series such as Halo, Star Wars and probably a Doom inspired one-off game where you just brutally kill and get killed.

I rather keep sprint. Its staying in halo honestly. If you don’t like it play the older halos.

yes but the sad thing is, Halo doesn’t play like Halo since Reach no matter how big you print HALO on the cover, it took too much inspiration from CoD and other “modern” trends, following Dooms path when it comes to movement would actually bring the game closer to it’s own origen then any rhing since 2010

Most Halo players would except the fact that Halo MCC is pretty broken with its server bug after server bug

Oh the irony.
So your fine with Halo turning into a COD/battlefield hybrid.
But Halo turning back into what it was originally based on is a big no no?
Has 343 brainwashed you or something?

You gotta fight for what’s important. Even if the people who argue for keeping the current system don’t agree, at least we can hope that 343 will take a look at some of our ideas and arguments.

I said that this post was “the epitome of beating a dead horse”. When you have zero games on your account it raises suspicion that you are using more than one account to post. I only point out that competitive players are few and far between and I don’t mock them but I will make a sarcastic comment when they kd shame.

Making a fast base speed wouldn’t make it play more like Doom than Halo. Certainly not anymore than sprint or clamber or ADS make it play like CoD. Why are you ok with those things? If you wanted that, you’d play CoD, right? Are you saying you were completely fine with no sprint before Doom was released?

I’m pretty convinced you actually know very little of Doom and Halos history, otherwise you’d know that what you’re saying makes no sense.

I loathe a community that feels their opinion or belief entitles them to call out a person with a different preference for a meaningless video game simply because they don’t like a feature and want lock-step synchronization with their own ideas. Get over your ego; I have some mountain climbing gear you could borrow.

I only point out that competitive players are few and far between and I don’t mock them but I will make a sarcastic comment when they kd shame.

No, you’ve done all the things I mentioned. You didn’t start posting in this topic a few days ago. It’s been a month of whining and I would have a field day combing through this thread and picking out every example of you doing what I mentioned, but it’d be too hard on a phone.
