Not because of a complex string of factors such as the expansion of the FPS market (especially CoD), Steam making PC gaming viable again, and people not having the time to game anymore due to college, a career, or families? Pinning the blame for Halo’s decline on a single factor doesn’t make for a healthy discussion.

I’m in college and have a job, and I still play Halo. If the game is good enough, people will make time for it. Simple as that.

> Halo: The only game I’m aware of where Running; Something were all capable off is a feature that’s a debate. I like being able to get from Position A to Be faster; I like the faster pace gameplay and i like how Sprinting has made guns like the AR and SMG useable in Multiplayer. What I think makes this a topic of debate is how it works in regards to your energy shields in Halo 5. I don’t mind that you have to stop running to have your shields recharge, but I think that that didnt happen…people would be happier about it.

Gameplay> realism. Btw you don’t actually get from point a to b faster. It’s all an illusion caused by map size and fov. Halo 1-3 are faster paced games. On midship you’re almost always able to shoot someone. In truth in halo 5 you almost always have to run a little bit before you get to a spot to be able to shoot. The time to sprint across the map in h5 is the same as it is to walk across it in halo 2. They have to make maps bigger to accommodate sprinting so in reality since you’re not always sprinting. You’re moving slower than you typically would

> While sprinting and shooting, Titanfall was great. Super fast gameplay, and the motion blur and visual effects made you feel fast. But it did have that slower, walking pace, I guess we can call it, which slowed things down. Think of all those gunfights that were so great when both players had the shoot-while-sprinting perks and each was strafing and jumping and doing whatever it took to outmaneuver the other player’s shots, while trying to land their own. And I agree with you. No wall running. High movement gunfights are so diverse and unique every single time. Games with slow base movement speed, like CoD and similar titles, are good in their own way, but they have almost no gunfights. The fast sprint speed which is used for travel, makes most gunfights primary decided on positioning and ads. But what I’m saying is that a high base movement speed really puts an emphasis on gunplay and gunfights and trying to juke out the opponent while trying to predict their crazy movement patterns and trying to land your own shots. It adds a whole other layer of skill and fun to the game.

Ahhh okay I understand now. And since you have shields in halo you’d have to have a real gunfight if you run into someone and it’s all up to skill or who has the stronger power weapon. I agree with you but I do like being able to walk and sprint.

Halo 4 sold 9 million. Halo 3 sold 14 million. Halo 4 was not the highest selling halo title. You might mistake for it being the fastest selling one but I don’t even think it was that

Exactly. Would you be opposed to a system where the movement speed is based on how far the player pushes directionally on the movement stick? So all the way forward would be top speed, and slightly forward would be more of a walk. But your gun would always be up.

I’m not opposing the idea of being able to hold up your gun while sprinting, i just oppose the removal of sprint all together. But if that mechanic was implemented (and done correctly) thatd be cool. (Thanks for a constructive conversation)

Check out my conversation with SealsNinja, we bring up some pretty good points for a no-sprint, but still fast-paced Halo.

I know. I’ve told people the same thing you’re telling me. Just pointing out the irony.

Not because of a complex string of factors such as the expansion of the FPS market (especially CoD), Steam making PC gaming viable again, and people not having the time to game anymore due to college, a career, or families? Pinning the blame for Halo’s decline on a single factor doesn’t make for a healthy discussion.

Pretty sure you misunderstood the point of my post or the context of the response.

Would you like to offer an opinion on the mechanic versus stating you simply like it?

I pretty sure the new spartan abilities (save -Yoinking!- spartan charge) would be GENERALLY accepted in a halo game if they werent accompanied by sprint it would feel more competitive more strategic and would also still be recognizable to the fine tuned experience we got in halo 5. Warzone and customs would be a whole other beast entirely retaining ALL the features that made halo 5 successful would keep warzone great and would also allow more options for custom games, for those people that actually wanted to play in a sprint arena type setting they could actually fire up the in game custom game lobby adjust the filter and be good to go! lets face it, sprint has NO place in competitve halo and to argue that it does would just be absurd. this would allow arena maps to continue to be designed the PROPER way and please the vets and basically everyone whos willing to give it a chance and you wouldnt lose much of your sprint loving audience at all because there would still be sprint in the game it would just take a backseat!
> Thoughts? :3

I think we should keep sprint in the Multiplayer. I don’t know about the Campaign though.

I’m always baffled when someone says it should stay in MP but not Campaign. At that point even the immersion excuse doesn’t make sense.

I apologize.

How do you all feel about a high base movement speed implemented that acts as a smooth constant sprint with the thumbstick pushed all the way forward? This mechanic would also support the player’s gun always staying up, which creates endlessly more opportunities for intense, fast-paced, gunfights. A constant fast speed paired with a constant gun ready facilitates an environment with constant combat, with little time to breathe between encounters.

Essentially turning Halo into Doom. No thank you.

I thought 343i was going to add a halo 2 playlist.

Halo was Doom evolved, do people not remember this? Halo wouldn’t be Dooms MP it would simply equal moving at a constant fast speed with the ability to engage in combat all the time.

Yeah I think most if not all the halo community wants to keep Halo, Halo not some other game
