You’re making me cry, Sealsninja.
Shouldn’t it also make sense for the spartan to sprint and shoot at the same time? Why would a super soldier in the middle of a battle put his gun down to go fast, when they can maintain speed with their guns up?

Kinda childish to just tell someone to go away because they have a different opinion. Most of the anti-sprint people I’ve noticed have decided that anyone who enjoys H5 or the sprint mechanic in general doesn’t have the right to share their opinion.

Thats rather anecdotal, there are plenty of people who continually ask why the mechanic is needed etc. Were here to encourage debate, would you like to offer a pros vs cons list to augment the discussion?

Dude this isn’t the right argument.
The name of this stupid thread is “remove sprint to blah blah blah” right? You don’t want to remove sprint corporal! You want to change the sprint mechanic. So get off this thread and make one where you talk about sprinting while shooting. I see more people arguing for that change to sprint then the actual removal of sprint. I don’t disagree with your idea totally but the idea of getting rid of sprint entirely is stupid. If 343 implements a mechanic where you can sprint and shoot, then that would be cool.
edit: Corporal im not saying to stop your argument because you have a good argument, what I am saying is that your argument does not call for the removal of sprint, im arguing that sprint should stay.

i agree just move faster in general…people would complain a3out it 3eing slow even if you actually moved faster than in halo 5 the majority of the time…they just wanna “feel” like they are going faster…even if they are already going super fast…halo could 3e as fast as DOOM an people would still call it slow without sprint

Everyone would go the same pace then so you’d end up feeling slow, that’s why sprinting (which is something people actually do so why couldn’t supersoldiers do it?) makes you go faster. Increasing base speed isn’t a bad thing, but if everyone goes that speed, they end up not feeling like they go faster after a while. That’s the point of sprinting, going faster.

Doom and Overwatch were smart enough to include sprint, and make their games stand apart from the crowd. No one is asking for loudouts (like Doom has) or a variety of different hero-characters (like Overwatch). Halo did away with its solid formula (starting in Reach) for the sake of being more like popiular shooters of the time like CoD and Battlefield. And when I say “did away” I mean added mechanics like sprint which breaks the integrity of the original formula by forcing the maps and gameplay to be designed around the new mechanic.

You think so? Because most of your posts consist of telling people that this topic should cease to exist or that they’re using multiple accounts to argue or to mock them for liking competitive play.
I can appreciate that someone apparently stole your pacifier, but there comes a point in life when you need to grow up and stop whining. Hell, maybe if you’re a little nicer, I could buy you a new pacifier. That’s sounds good, right? Goochie goochie goo.

Everyone goes at the same speed while they’re sprinting as well. I get what you’re saying, but it can be said about two players sprinting as well. Having sprint makes base movement feel slow. However if base movement is fast, and there is no sprint, it always feels fast, and that really feels good, especially if you’re a player who craves fast-paced gameplay.

I see what you’re saying too. I guess there would need to be a balance. Titanfall got it right cause I feel like I’m going fast in that game all the time. I’m not saying halo should have wall running… that’d be not good.

I get that some people annoy that crap out of you. It seems like every day I get on the internet I see something that makes me wanna punch a wall bc of how legitimately stupid some person’s patgeic string of words were. But for the sake of this thread and Halo’s future, we’ve got to refrain from making degrading comments bc these monitors are truly PC Nazis. Not trying to talk down to you at all man, just trying to keep this thread full of good constructive conversations.

>
>
That’s the point of sprinting, going faster.
first of all…who cares if you “feel” slow…which you wouldnt unless your used to playing sonic the hedge og or whatever…its a3out the gameplay itself…and my friend up there is right a3out everyone sprinting having the same affect
Sprint in halo 4 was bad, because you could get infinite sprint with sprint perk in loudout. It gave you a competitor advantage with ctf. In halo 5, the damage that limits sprint works well, because it isn’t op and doesn’t give a advantage. Sprinting in halo 5 only makes the game faster, and doesn’t give a competitive advantage.

Constructive conversations are very hard to come by. People always need to add some insults. I wanted to add a few insults in a few of my posts earlier on today but I refrained to try to state my opinion clearly. I hope more people can do that instead of getting everyone angrier.

Not because of a complex string of factors such as the expansion of the FPS market (especially CoD), Steam making PC gaming viable again, and people not having the time to game anymore due to college, a career, or families? Pinning the blame for Halo’s decline on a single factor doesn’t make for a healthy discussion.
College? School work anything. Doesn’t matter. There’s a new generation of kids playing games since the prime days of halo. If 343/Microsoft hadn’t -Yoinked!- up then halo would still be the top dog. And all those kids that love playing cod would probably also or exclusively be playing halo too. No I don’t take those factors in lol. Why would it have to do with anything with pc? Lol no. That doesn’t and shouldn’t have anything to do with it since most people who game typically game on console because pcs are expensive and consoles are simple and family friendly/living room friendly. Your reasoning doesn’t make sense. New generations of gamers come in every year. If halo hadn’t -Yoinked!- up then it would still be catching the eyes of several million people.

Yes because everyone who plays games have to go to college or jobs

However if base movement is fast, and there is no sprint, it always feels fast, and that really feels good, especially if you’re a player who craves fast-paced gameplay.
>
>
> I see what you’re saying too. I guess there would need to be a balance. Titanfall got it right cause I feel like I’m going fast in that game all the time. I’m not saying halo should have wall running… that’d be not good.
While sprinting and shooting, Titanfall was great. Super fast gameplay, and the motion blur and visual effects made you feel fast. But it did have that slower, walking pace, I guess we can call it, which slowed things down. Think of all those gunfights that were so great when both players had the shoot-while-sprinting perks and each was strafing and jumping and doing whatever it took to outmaneuver the other player’s shots, while trying to land their own. And I agree with you. No wall running. High movement gunfights are so diverse and unique every single time. Games with slow base movement speed, like CoD and similar titles, are good in their own way, but they have almost no gunfights. The fast sprint speed which is used for travel, makes most gunfights primary decided on positioning and ads. But what I’m saying is that a high base movement speed really puts an emphasis on gunplay and gunfights and trying to juke out the opponent while trying to predict their crazy movement patterns and trying to land your own shots. It adds a whole other layer of skill and fun to the game.

> but thats the thing we are still keeping sprint, its there its still an option and if you wanted to play with it you could play warzone or custom games. thing is halos 1-3 were fine without sprint in the campaign and the arena aspect. What does sprint bring to those gamemodes that improve on the experience and dont just take away from it?
I personally like the sprint aspect that Halo 5 offers. I myself believe that the sprint mechanic improves the gameplay by allowing people to make further jumps, escape firefights, and move quickly to power weapons or objectives. You can sill play strategically in Halo with the sprint ability. Even if you don’t like to sprint, you don’t have to, just don’t hit the sprint button. I find myself at times using sprint quite often, but other times, I lay off and slow down my gameplay. I’m curious though, what do you think the sprint ability takes away from the Halo experience?
