And sprinting that’s makes you even faster but might be not necessary. They might need to have Halo 2 Magnetism due to fast they are.

That is completely unrelated to what I’m talking about.

> Honest question. I define sprint as moving at a speed obviously faster than a walking pace. The lowering weapon “sprint” in a game only signifies that there is a distinct differeance in walking and running within the games physics, which genrally implies that most things are less accurate at accelerated speeds.
Well then, you do realize that the people who oppose sprint always implicitly assume a mechanic that requires the player to lower their weapon when they talk about “sprint”? You’re not having the same discussion everybody else is having.
If sprint was removed from halo 5, it would change the way we look at halo for ever. Even though, the older Halo games don’t have sprint, boost and assassinations, its a lot more entertaining for the player and to keep the Halo franchise going and to put it up there with the rest of the big games that are the Halo franchises competition, they need sprint and other armor abilities. If you look around at all the other games out there for Xbox One many of them are trying to be the best, Halo series has been the best since it was an idea by Bungie, lets keep it that way.

You’re saying that in order to beat the competition you need to do what the competition does despite what it does for your game?
I’m seeing a whole lot of. “halo shouldn’t be trying to mimic other shooters!”
Followed immediately by “look at doom and overwatch! Halo should be like that!”.
I dont want halo to be like either of those games. Halo 5 is more enjoyable than either. Doom is just a bad MP. Hell halo 4 is better.
But as for OP wanting sprint removed I’m neither in favor nor against this. Some Modes like warzone and campaign would be painful without it. I don’t think removing sprint would be of any benifit to halo except that Spartan charge would go away with it. I’ve played MCC quite a few times during halo 5 and all I can think is “holy Jebus this is slow”
What I do know is judging by the size of this thread there is a large group of players who want a sprintless halo. Rather than making halo 6 entirely without sprint I really think a community playlist with remakes and original maps made to scale for a sprintless Spartan would be a great experiment. To test the waters and see where the community gathers in the playlist selections. If it’s incredibly popular, take a serious look at making the change.
People claim that there are millions of gamers waiting for halo without sprint. I just don’t buy that. But I do think there is well over enough interest that these gamers should be able to play a sprintless halo again. Halo 5 forge is great. Let the forgers go to work and give these guys a playlist. Then see where the population goes and use that data to influence your decision. I would play this myself, I miss halo 2 as well.
Many 2 cents. I gave them earlier but this thread refuses to die.

You have everything wrong, Kelly is the fastest Spartan II she is not a Spartan 3(clearing this up from an earlier post). Kelly can sustain speeds of up to 60mph safely, jonh ruptured his achelies tendon at 40mph.
Sprint is good, sprint canonically shouldn’t go as it just wouldn’t make sense. Also just try getting from one side of some warzone maps to the other without sprint or vehicles. I do love the old games and I would never want Halo 2 to have sprint but again I would never want the removal of it in the newer titles.

We’ve made clear lore =/= gameplay and maps are designed around the mechanics implemented from the start. If warzone was in 6 the maps would be scaled to the mechanics present, this is speculative talk for future titles not the current iteration. From a gameplay pov what is it that makes sprint untouchable? Couldn’t we implement some mechanic that doesn’t sacrifice combat for movement? Going on your logic…its in the lore right?
Sprint threw off the balance of Halo, since then it’s been downhill for the franchise. Until they remove all this stupid mobility 343i can never make as good Halo games as Bungie did. Come at me 343i fanboys who have never played a Halo game other than Guardians.

Halo 5 multiplayer is one of the most balance Halo games and one of the most balanced shooter in recent years. Also playing the old campaigns make me wish it had sprint. Chief walks like he has lead weights attached to his legs which results in the movement being too slow in my opinion.

> Only a few months after augmentation procedures the SPARTAN-IIs were noted of being capable of running at speeds exceeding 55 kmh or 34.2 mph.[8]Kelly-087 was capable of running even faster than this speed. Later during the Human-Covenant war while in her Mark V MJOLNIR Armor, Kelly-087s the top speed recorded was 62 kmh or 38.5 mph[9]John-117 has been noted to have briefly ran at around 105 kmh or 65.2 mph during a MJOLNIRMARK V training exercise, however his Achilles tendon was torn because the strain put on his body was unsustainable.[10]

I definitely would have agreed on reverting back to the classics had you said this with Reach and Halo 4 consideting they had poor game play with the addition of sprint (as well as other things), making them feel clunky and very CoD-like. However, Halo 5 plays nothing like them, it feels extremely smooth and all the movements have an actual use in the game. Sprint slide and thrusters can be used to get to places quickly (ie: Cover), Ground Pound and stabalizers aren’t just used to get kills but fix mistakes (ie: you over jump or accidentally walk into a man cannon), and clamber is awesome to climb up to different levels rather than going around and up stairs. Spartan Charge is really the only mechanic I can’t really defend, I don’t really care if it’s removed or not.
These “ridiculous” movements are really good and work well to increase the overall experience while playing compared to the armor abilities of Reach and 4, in fact, I still remember first playing this and thinking, “This feels like Halo 2/3 back in the day, fast fun and extremely cool.” granted that I recently found out how slow Halo 2/3 were and as much as I love their gameplay, I found myself wishing I had sprint or thrusters to get through certain parts faster (ie: campaign and BTB) whenever vehicles weren’t present or available to me.
P.S.
Don’t ruin your post by calling out players, that literally just makes your post and any point you’re trying to make obsolete. I honestly almost skipped it when I read “343 fanboys” when it seems you are doing the same as them with Bungie.
God why is this thread still around. Still hoping 343 won’t just see this and be like “3000 responses to no sprint thread means people don’t want sprint.”
Halo 5’s spartan abilities are fun, balanced, and refreshing compared to previous games. Sprint, thruster, smart-link/hover, charge, slide, seat-swapping, clamber, and ground pound; all are useful and add to the game. I really hope this is the new base model going forward.
If anything halo and especially under 343 has shown they will continually tinker or outright change the mechanics between games. Reach TU to 4 to 4s weapon update to 5 and now on to 6. History states if anything change is probable, what change is to be determined. Hence why were holding this discussion now, its the most debated mechanic in halo history.
