Newer generations of gamers (me included) who didn’t grow up with halo are used to fast paced games such as battlefield, cod, and just about every other fps. It’s hard for a slow paced game like the older halos and even the newer ones to attract the gamers so they added sprint. To be honest I like sprint when I don’t have it I feel like a turtle with a gun. Sure you might not like it but your not everyone. 343 also has to appeal to the newer generations as well.

Everyone and their mother says the new Doom game is one of the fastest paced games out now and it has no sprint. The masses don’t know what they want, they only think they know, that’s why it’s 343’s job to show you want you want. Making a fast paced game without sprint is insanely easy, but nobody - including the devs - cares to think for themselves.

> I’m curious, how would you define sprint as a gameplay mechanic? If running in Doom is sprinting, is Halo with 200% movement speed sprinting, too? You see, there might be a conflict of definitions here as for many people the definition of sprint includes having to lower your weapon. If you don’t need to lower your weapon, there’s no sprint.
What I don’t understand … Halo gives away Sprint boosts, in 3 different levels, each getting better as the level gets higher. Likewise many weaThatpons give speed boosts, along with health or damage boosts.
That being said, why do we, does Halo, need a permanent sprint? Why can’t you just save your boosts & use them? That is what they are there for? Right? You are allowed to go to a REQ station while alive, simply re-activate another boost. Having played since Day 1, I have acquired over 425+/- L1 Speed boosts, 400+/- L2 Speed boosts & 350 +/- Speed boosts. I say “+/-” because I use them, often, then I get more from the REQ’s I get; keeping accurate count isn’t possible.
In closing, there is no need for a “Sprint” in today’s Halo games, simply because Halo gives us the Sprint option all day long. The issue at hand is, the user. The user choosing to sell their Sprint REQ’s; thus not having access to a Sprint option, unlike those of us that play “¿Conservatively?” and save what the game gives us.
If Spartans would only realize the gift we have been gifted is truly a “bird in the hand”, perhaps then we wouldn’t appraise it’s worth as “two in the bush”. Save your Speed boosts. Use your Speed boosts. Then you’ll notice how awesome the game is; not needing a Spartan that can out run a speeding bullet, yet can if he drinks his “purple speed juice boost”.
I’m all about play the game with what your given & not create silly solutions like my generation only plays with fast paced boosted speed freakazoid FPS’s. If that truly is the case, may I suggest rapid decompression & detoxification from your gaming life for well over 6months. Because your answer is the answer an addict gives, any addict for any addiction. Please, help your family & friends. Start mowing the lawn, t miming the trees, get a suntan, get a haircut, find a “mate”, go to a concert, interact into humanity. But do not say that your generation requires fast paced FPS’s because that’s how you grew up. I feel for you. I’m the OG generation. We played Pong on the Intelevision, it was AWESOME! Pitfall on the Intelevision rocked too. The Atari 600 was it? Then the Apple IIS, playing Oregon Trail, whoop … yeah, we all had our first cars at 16, playing CB tag. Our own apartments at 16/17.
See what I mean? Notch your speed down, there’s an entire world out here that you might be missing. As Ghandi once said, what color is the wind?
