Halo 3 is proof that Halo doesn’t need sprint.
no keep it, based on the size of all maps just “walking” will take too long to get to the places you want to go. also if take out sprint on halo that will aslo include spartan charging, and the thruster pack will be alkward to use

I have seen both doom and overwatch gameplay and it looks like you’re zipping across the map as you would with 3 speed boosts.
The reason why those games don’t have sprint is because they already move fast enough and adding more speed to that would just be rediculos in so many ways

Why would they keep map size/design the same if they took out sprint. That makes zero sense. 343 is dumb but not that dumb.

That’s a good thing.

Exactly. That’s why sprint isn’t necessary. Bump up the base speed for Halo 6 and you’re done.
I do not think that halo is what a great game and one of the most played

Doesn’t a bump in speed still equate to having a “sprint” though? It wouldn’t make any sense to boost the speed across the board, I like having the option. Why is this so hard for people to grasp? Play the style that suits you best! I think Halo 5 and the mechanics of moving faster via a sprint adds necessary realism to the game. I’m all for the fiction in terms of game lore and story, but the evolution of speeding up the pace of play by adding Spartan abilities and sprint helps improve the gameplay. At least that’s my take. We aren’t going backwards, and if you want to go experience the nostalgia play the older Halo games via The Masterchief Collection. Simple as that home skillets.

What do you think of sprint and why to you love/hate it.

Well then…
Somehow I managed to make an arguement as to why we don’t need sprint without realising it when I was typing it in… But I do agree that bumping up the base movement speed would solve the issue. People can still move fast, you’re still (technically) sprinting and shooting and those who don’t want sprint don’t have it in the game

Thats what everyone is advocating for, increase the movement speed and rid ourselves of the dated mechanic that disables our ability to combat and move at a maximum speed. Not to mention this mechanic has made map design rather bland as of late with large dead zones no one travels.
A number of people have pointed to the increase in FPS without sprint as some form of evidence but from what i can see Doom has performed badly to say the least
No, sprint is still a problem, one that we’ve been dealing with for the better part of a decade. If you’re truly curious as to why sprint is looked down on, I’ll explain if you’d like. I won’t argue, but if you ask questions I’ll inform you of the answers

No, it’s not the same as sprinting. Maps are built for the top speed, so in a game with sprint, you can’t traverse the map efficiently without sprinting, which you obviously don’t do all the time because of its many drawbacks. You’re essentially being put at a disadvantage for traversing the map at the speed it was made for. Without sprint, this isn’t a problem because you’re traversing the map efficiently and you’re able to be offensive at the same time. This allows for a faster pace and more thought to be put into your moment to moment play.
A faster base speed would also discourage the act of running away. Sprint encourages you to run away if given the chance when things look bad. Once you start running, there’s no reason to stop until you’re safe. That’s because the pursuer can’t sprint and shoot at the same time. Either they risk losing you by keeping their weapon up, or they run after you and risk you regrouping or bring caught defenseless. That’s not a problem with a faster base speed. A faster base speed forces you to always be offensive and defensive all at once all the time. If someone flees, they often need to take steps to keep you at bay or find a way to fight back because the pursuer can attack them without losing ground. This also quickens the pace of fights and keeps them from dragging on or coming to a premature end where someone escapes.
Of course, constantly moving at the speed the map is built for also allows for a shorter time between encounters.

Doom has been consistently praised for its fast, fun gameplay.
i dont think
True but the gameplay and time to kill will obviously be slower
