Sprint, is just a sonic the hedgehog mode, where you put down your gun and book it, and affects everything in the game from how the AI functions to how the maps are designed. Quit defending sprint as the future of halo because honestly adding sprint to the game doesnt bring all that much to the table. I still think that it NEEDS to remain in warzone and customs as an option. but thats it has no place in competitive and campaign for reasons already explained. for those of you who think that the game NEEDS sprint stop for two seconds to actually think to yourself, would you mind playing a halo which sprint is removed in campaign and arena? JUST those two. and if you couldnt why not?
> > > > > if its the speed we could higher base movement speed. So why? why does sprint ABSOLUTLEY have to be in the game. explain it to me, really cause I want to understand. I used to be like you guys I used to defend sprint until I realize what it does inevitably to the game around it. So, tell me why?–aint nothin but a part♪–

That just suggests theres other options, but having other options doesn’t mean the current one can’t be included or isn’t right. I’m still waiting for someone to share a definitive reason as to why sprint shouldn’t be in there. I hear a lot of you asking us to provide a definitive reason as to why sprint should be included but I still haven’t heard a definitive reason as to why not.

> > > Because it devolves the element of strategy in the game, halo used to be more like a game of chess, each move you make setting you up closer to success or to failure but it never meant you had it made in any particular point in the match even when it seemed all hope was lost and you were surrounded by the enemy there was always something you could do to outthink your oponent; adding two movement speeds adds a layer of randomness and unpredictability into the game reducing the skillgap reducing the time you have to outthink your oponent the game becomes mor ue about who has better aim exclusively instead of who can think out of the box the most aim the best and knows the map better now its more about running and gunning than anything else, sprint needs to go from ARENA and campaign because those two game modes could be SO MUCH MORE without sprint but lets see how youre going to rebutt this one I hardly think you will accept my point.
> >
> >
> > Ahhhhh… each move you make now STILL sets you up for success or failure. You can STILL outthink your enemy. You can STILL comeback and win a match that you were down on. Not sure why sprint changes any of this. It’s not like with sprint all of a sudden you can’t outthink your enemies or you can’t setup for success or failure or because of sprint you can’t make a comeback anymore. It’s not about accepting or denying your point it’s that the point is irregardless of sprinting.
>
>
> Im I said it devolves the strategy not removes despite the title of this thread I was just trying to get attention I still do think the game is halo problem is it greatly reduces the time for creativity and strategies and more often than not plans dont follow through because you have two movement speeds to account for not one so it becomes a guessing game, will my opponent sprint through the door and try to spartan charge me or will he walk through the door and try to headshot me. this is just ONE example.
Guessing game? Have you heard of anticipating your opponent’s move? I feel sprint ADDS the human element countering whichever style they are most likely to use in a given situation. Without sprint the fights were very linear, and you were regulated to using only a handful of weapons to counter every situation. By having more mobility and using speed, Spartan abilities, etc. you are given more OPPORTUNITY to outthink your opponent. You were just better moving at a slower pace in the old Halo games…some of us have adapted and can process information faster.

The game doesn’t force you to sprint and you can still trudge around the maps while shooting. Most of the complaints about sprint are probably caused by the lack of knowing when or when not to sprint.
People that play the game at a high level understand the game better than a casual player.
They know what’s Op, why its OP, and most of the time give good suggestions to make it less annoying.
Take sprint for example, my biggest issue is that sprint makes developers make maps bigger, therefore creating bigger dead zones on maps.
Halo doesn’t have a fast TTK, unless you are playing swat, making maps bigger and giving players defensive abilities to escape being outplayed, when they wouldn’t have been makes the game even slower.
Its why most people that play the game at a high level hate sprint, just like most of them hate the autos.
At lower levels of gameplay, you don’t see issues bc people just run around like chickens with their heads cut off

No, and you can look up my stats if you don’t believe me. I’m competitive enough, and a little over 50% of the time I’m doing the killing in arena not running around with my head cut off. If I had time to refine my skills even further…(darn real job) I’m sure I could improve my KDR even further in the right direction.
You sir, are just flat out wrong. See my earlier posts.

He said MOST people. Generally that is true, whether you want to believe it or not.
Also, you have a 1.1. I’m NOT talking -Yoink- “stat-shaming” when I say this at all, or whatever BS term 343/the mods wanna use (especially considering you are the one who brought up your stats in the first place), but that’s not very good. Sorry.

Considering I role solo 99% of the time and play very casually, I’d say my stats are very good. Nothing crazy great or bad about them and I feel they reflect the amount of time I have spent with the game fairly accurately. To hammer the point home though, removing sprint from the game would most likely have zero effect either way. So when I read somebody state an opinion but have nothing to back it up the only thing I can point to is my stats. Which can be compared in my case since I played thousands of arena slayer games from both The Masterchief Collection and Halo 5. Most people are too lazy to actually look up their own stats and make a fair comparison.

This is very ignorant. Very ignorant indeed. It does not have to take someone who plays a game at a competitive level to understand the game lol. A casual player can easily make his own opinion on an auto being op or sprint elongating maps. What you’re doing is stereotyping now. You assume casuals simply play and ignore everything going on around them? Don’t think they understand level design? Weapon sandbox? Spawn system?
It does not require someone to be play at a top level to understand a game, it simply requires -Yoinking!- knowledge and understanding the concept of a game.

Once again, I said “generally”. For the MOST part, it is true that the better/more skilled/more experienced players are going to know more about the game, especially the competitive aspects and finer points of a game. Or with anything for that matter. That’s like, common sense.
Also, the way sprint affects map design, especially stretching them and making them larger, is not an opinion. That’s a fact.

It’s not a “little issue”.
Although it’s not quite as big of one as your sentence structure and lack of punctuation. My eyes.
I never saw sprint as a problem until they add the Spartan charge.

Wow you are a very sensitive little flower huh?
Its common sense that people that play the game at a higher competitive level understand the game better than casuals.
Who do you think understands the game more, someone that is in champion division, or someone in gold?
Anyone can form an opinion about the game, casual or pro, but if you try to tell me Johnny knows more about the game than a pro does, why doesn’t Johnny go pro then?
And I’m using pro very loosely, but the concept is the same.

Nah mayne, I’d much rather be coached by Armchair QB #42069 than Peyton Manning, dawg.

You assume casuals simply play and ignore everything going on around them? Don’t think they understand level design? Weapon sandbox? Spawn system?

I’m the best armchair coach out there man, my fee is modest of course.

But why though. No one’s saying why (or at least giving legitimate reasons on why it’s a good thing for Halo/Halo needs it).

Most of the complaints about sprint are probably caused by the lack of knowing when or when not to sprint.

There’s a difference between simple knowledge of a game and then being good at playing dude.it even applies to life. People can understand things and how they work, but just aren’t good enough to do it. I know what needs to be done in halo to win, map control, power weapon setup, aiming needs to be good, when to push and when to back off, “executing” it is completely different. A good anology would be coaching sports. Many coaches weren’t good players themselves but they had the knowledge tho. Same applies here. Many people aren’t good but it doesn’t mean they lack an understanding of how the mechanics and such work. so like I said, it’s ignorant for one to think that one who just happens to play better means he knows better. Nothing will make me change my mind on that. The only thing a better player would know over a casual is what works in competitive play, that’s it. It doesn’t mean he’d understand sprint better than me tho just cuz he plays better.

You both are missing my point. If a casual says he knows “competitive” play better than a higher tier play, of course you’d listen to the higher tier player. What I’m saying is it doesn’t take a high tier player to understand gaming mechanics. You think every single person making the games are great at playing them? Nope, they simply have the “knowledge” and understanding of them. Executing better and knowing things is completely different. You keep acting like dip -Yoink- all you want.
I couldn’t agree more OP, sprint has opened up Halo to stupid -Yoink- like Spartan Charge.
Whoever came up with Spartan Charge needs to be punched in the gut.

Wait… So all of these people saying sprint should go… are doing this by themselves? Because with all the arguements, I had assumed that you wanted sprint out of the picture.
And yes, I did read the whole thing back when it used to be around 64-69 pages long and I had forgotten about your arguements
