> You complain that 343 added sprint, but as soon as they remove for Halo 6 it you’ll scream that they added no innovation to the game.
So sprint = innovation.
“Your keep saying that word but I don’t think you know what it means”
“halo” 4 and 5 innovated the franchise that -Yoink- all over the things that made Halo great, so in turn their sales and population numbers did the exact same thing. Look at Gears of War 4: As Favyn pointed out it doesn’t bring significant changes to the formula, but that is a good thing since it does not alienate their already big fan base.
343 need to learn a lession (but isn’t capable):
“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
sprint is here and it might not go away as it might go away…the point is…IT IS WHAT IT IS!!! sprint is available in halo5 and your -Yoinking!-, moaning and whining is not doing jack -Yoink- but making yourself look like a fool for steady staying on this path. LET IT GO and your life will be better, true story…LMAO…
I have to disagree. Sprint is now ingrained and a pivotal part of Halo. Having sprint take a backseat severely hurt Halo as a whole. For those Old Guard that didn’t adjust like the rest of us maybe an Arena playlist with no sprint.

How is it pivotal? What does it add to the gameplay that?
No it wont. I love the way 343 handled sprint in halo 5. It almost forces you not to sprint or at least use it situationaly because you get penalized for using it. Also i like how if you get shot while sprinting it stops you. Sprint is such a hot button issue when it comes to halo. Half the community is for it and half is against it. 343 came up with a genius solution in my opinion that caters to both sides.

Not an argument. Why is this one mechanic so needed going forward? Could a movement system that enables you to shoot and sprint at the same time be more beneficial and practice, it’s in the lore you must like that argument. Saying lmao in a well reasoned discussion only shows who’s unable to reason or articulate their opinion effectively. Argue on logic not emotion.

Since when did having sprint take a back seat ever hurt the franchise? If anything the population, sales and popularity all align with the games that didn’t implement this mechanic. Can’t we design a system that permits rapid movement and combat at the same time?

Considering the maps are built for the sprint speed, why is it a good thing to “almost force you” to not traverse the maps at the proper speed?

Since when is giving one part of the community what they want and Yoinking! onthe other part of the community catering to both sides?
want an example of an actual compromise?
-
No sprint in Arena + sprint in WZ and maybe campaign
-
year one (343): Halo with gimmicks and all that BS, year two (varying devs): non shooter spin-off (stuff like Halo wars), year three (new studio): classic Halo, year four (343) comes back with their gimmick Halo copying stuff that is popular at that time and so on
So good to see people still bumping this thread and keeping the good fight alive.

I have stated multiple times on multiple threads including this one that I had the first 2 Halos on pc. I’m a casual who doesn’t give a -Yoink- what my service record says. Someone’s skill doesn’t determine how much they enjoy a game.

It adds quite alot. Opens up a bunch of strategies especially the way 343 has implemented a penalty for using it. The whole risk reward is genius. Sprinting mostly just gets you killed but their is also times where you can use it to your advantage. They could have just kept sprint with no penalty but they came up with a solution to please both sides. Sometimes its comes in handy to have that 2nd gear.

He never said someone’s skill determines how much they enjoy the game.

Agreed. Now can we stop reviving old threads and can the sprint haters stop throwing tantrums

Use your imagination im sure you can figure it out. Just encase you cant.
People for sprint get to sprint but it comes at a price.(usually your life) Your shields dont recharge while sprinting forcing you to stop. If your sprinting while your one shot your just gonna die. Sprinting is just an easy way to a quick death in halo 5. It actually pays to be more stealthy. On the other hand if you use it situationaly it comes in handy and opens up different tactics.

Looks like this thread has just been continuously ongoing for the past month or two, so it isn’t being “revived”. That would suggest that it was dead for months at a time before someone decided to “necropost”. But, the fact that this thread is still going shows just how divided the issue is. It just would be nice to see some more calm discussions going on.
Me, I may not like sprint in Halo, but I won’t cry about it. I only used it sparingly in Halo 4’s campaign (and I don’t own Halo 5, which is fine by me).

no matter how many stuff you add to “balance” it, it is still in the game, it still changes the way the game play, it changes the way maps are desinged it changes a lot of -Yoink- even with those oh-so-great-mechanisms to “balance” it…
So lets say you don’t want to have a blue colored room but your mommy wants you to have a blue room. Is it a compromise if she orders a painter to paint your room blue? It’s blue but you didn’t have to paint it yourself so it has to be a compromise right?
