Or they could remove sprint and keep thruster, slide and jump (perhaps by tying the slide mechanic to thrust). And maybe they could just have you “walk” faster. It took me all of half a second to think that up. If you like sprint, then you like it, but removing it won’t make things “slow”.
I like how Bungie did it in Halo: Reach where they had sprint as an armor ability instead of always being able to sprint. I could go for that. I like the ability to spartan charge from the sprint, though, so that would be okay to keep.

Considering how 343 follows trends it may be removed now that it’s a stale old mechanic that limits your ability to shoot and move in a first person shooter. Mechanics have changed throughout every halo, not sure how you convinced yourself on that one.

I pretty sure the new spartan abilities (save -Yoinking!- spartan charge) would be GENERALLY accepted in a halo game if they werent accompanied by sprint it would feel more competitive more strategic and would also still be recognizable to the fine tuned experience we got in halo 5. Warzone and customs would be a whole other beast entirely retaining ALL the features that made halo 5 successful would keep warzone great and would also allow more options for custom games, for those people that actually wanted to play in a sprint arena type setting they could actually fire up the in game custom game lobby adjust the filter and be good to go! lets face it, sprint has NO place in competitive halo and to argue that it does would just be absurd. this would allow arena maps to continue to be designed the PROPER way and please the vets and basically everyone whos willing to give it a chance and you wouldnt lose much of your sprint loving audience at all because there would still be sprint in the game it would just take a backseat!

‘doom has performed badly’ lol
Every time I play overwatch or doom and go back to h5 it feels so dated and slow because of sprint.

Well explain then if sprint isn’t the end all be all of halo. Explain why sales for halo dropped tremendously with reach? The first halo to game to TRULY change the formula. Obviously halo ce and halo 2 perform differently but they still have very similar game play styles. So tell me why other than sprint/spartan abilities halo has declined? I mean the sprint and Armour abilities is what has changed halo gameplay. And when those things were added in halo lost its call to fame. It’s because they change gameplay significantly so yes. Sprint/sa’s are the end all be all for halo there’s a reason halo 5 is the lowest selling main halo title. It’s because it’s not the same halo it used to be. “Halo needed change” sure of course. Change can be good. From halo 2 to halo 3 there wasn’t a lot of change bit there was change and it was enough for it to be justified as a sequel and a brand new game. Reach/4/5 play differently than the classic loved halo games and the Halo fans don’t support that. That poll 343 did forever wasn’t right. Because there’s less than 5 million halo players nowadays. Way less. The poll wasn’t correct because most halo fans (8 million) had already left the franchise. So it left mainly the newer players or the players that were okay with sprint. And the post bravo made the other day about halos pop. So what? Only reason halo 5 has so many players every month is because for about 2-3 days there’s a huge spike in player count from the update. Any other day the player count isn’t impressive I’m sure as it takes awhile to get into games every once in awhile. I wonder how the player count is next month. When there’s no update. Think about that.
I think taking away sprint would be a bad idea. In Halo 5 you finally have a complete Spartan. You’re super solider Sprint and Thrusters are a must

Not being able to move quickly unless I give up the ability to shoot, nade, melee and move in any direct but forwards does not make me feel very super.

not you again… facepalm
i know it´s not right but I must say it again: YOU DON’T PLAY HALO 5 SO PLEASE STOP CRYING (!!) about something to complain does not concern you. Maybe you should just play sometimes halo 5 to decide whether to sprint away or not. Rather than complain about sprint because everything was formerly been better…
Personaly i want a playlist for sprint and a playlist for no sprint, don’t see how anyone can comlpain about that. Best of both worlds.

how can I make it so I never have to see this thread again?.. Is there a button for that yet?

Yes. A red X on the top right of your browser window.
This makes no sense.
You complain that 343 added sprint, but as soon as they remove for Halo 6 it you’ll scream that they added no innovation to the game.

It’s possible to innovate in other ways than sprint, you know…?

“Not you again”? You responded to my post (a post that wasn’t even directed to you). No -Yoink-, I responded back.
Go ahead and take a wild guess at one of the reasons I don’t play Halo 5. And take another guess as to how I determined I don’t like that thing. If you decide to think, the very obvious answer may just come to you.
So I say again, you may like the mechanic, but it’s inclusion adds nothing that can’t be accomplished in a better way and it’s removal would not slow down the gameplay.

Sprint isn’t innovative, so that would be a pretty weird response to it’s removal. The only people that would make that complaint are the ones that don’t know what innovation is: the pro-sprinters. Question: how come if a mechanic is removed, that automatically means nothing else was added to the game? My god, your post is horrible.
Sprint doesn’t bother me at all, people keep saying oh no the maps are designed for sprint and as a result are terrible. Or that we dont need two movement speeds. Well in reality two movement speeds drastically changes the game. If your trying to jump across a bridge for instance on eden you need sprint to clear the gap with a thrust added in. This is a strategic decision because you are vulnerable while sprinting. In addition if you take the map truth the midship remake sprint can be used strategically to get back to a flag more quickly but at the risk of being caught off guard and killed. On the other hand you could also take the more reserved approach and use regular movement speed to get back to a dropped flag which would give you better better ability with gunplay but you may miss the flag return timer. Sprint adds a lot to the game and people who say designers just make the map bigger to accommodate sprint and that quicker movement is just an illusion are wrong as well. You have two movement speeds if you run at regular speed its longer and if you sprint its similar to old halo movement distances like on midship. Again this adds a strategic decision making aspect to the game that otherwise would not be there. I dont think sprint is crucial to halo 5 multiplayer but I also think people complaining about it and using it as a scape goat for all the reasons they dont like a particular halo title are just fooling themselves…
