I like sprinting but at the same time its as if we’re playing Call Of Duty now because Halo 3 was an extremley good game and it didnt have sprinting but by the time Halo 4 came out we have loadoutswe have sprinting and its as if we were playing COD (IN MY OPINION)

God help us all.
If 343 were smart, they would have crammed sprint and all the abilities into Warzone and kept them out of Arena. Sprint actually kills my immersion and isn’t realistic in a Halo game. Spartans are able to sprint and shoot precisely at the same time, confirmed in lore and past games. They’re super soldiers. The sprint mechanic destroys that concept.
Same with ADS. The scope of their guns were directly linked to their helmets, so they had no need to physically aim down their sights. Confirmed in lore and past games. They’re super soldiers with the latest technology. ADS killed that concept.
If we’re gonna sit here and try to justify certain mechanics because of immersion or realism, I can just as easily condemn them for the same reason. It’s a pointless argument.

Look man, I get why you put your clan name at the end of a post but, to be completely honest, a lot of people are already in a spartan company. Keep in mind, I’m not attacking you intentionally and I understand why, but please stop

They can also go prone and dual wield sniper rifles! Using lore as an argument doesn’t always work because someone else will use it back to get their point across.

Exactly. Which is why it shouldn’t be used in BALANCING A COMPETITIVE ARENA MULTIPLAYER SHOOTER.
Unless you’re 343 and selling copies, attracting CoD kids, and making as much money as possible are more important than pleasing your hardcore fanbase and retaining the integrity of the game and Halo name.

Good job disproving his points…again.
Keep contributing nothing.
I dont think sprint should be removed, however spartan abilities like ground pound and spartan charge need to go. Clamber is ok as long as the maps dont force you to use it.

As has everyone else in most of the last 174 pages. Because apparently there’s still points to be made.

I’m part of the original fanbase and I welcome sprint with open arms! You can’t expect H3 every few years because there is an entire generation of gamers that don’t enjoy the old playstyle. The old Halos I mostly played for the campaigns and only occasionally played mp, but now I love the mp even though I’m not that great. The things that made Halo unique are the shields, weapons, and high ttk (except CE because of the 3 shot kill pistol) which are still here!

There was an entire generation of gamers who loved the old playstyle who have now moved on because it changed. There hasn’t even been a classic Halo game since H3 so there’s no way of knowing how it would fare in today’s market. My bet is it would fare just fine. Halo 3 was massively, massively popular even when sprint games were becoming huge.
Many things contributed to Halo’s identity, including the fluid combination of combat and movement. One consistent movement speed across the board.

Any time you need to disprove any points about sprint, message me
It doesn’t matter if sprint makes sense or not from an external perspective, what matters is the effect is has on game play. I agree, Spartans can run, hell they do so in the books, but that doesn’t mean it’s an acceptable mechanic within the game. These things are inherently different from one another. Halo’s original formula works, in fact it worked so well it contributed to building THE first person shooter. The beauty of the first 3 games is that the formula was recognised and respected. The games each evolved, each added fresh new things, but never was the formula broken. Many of you have played since CE, or at least H2, so I ask, did any of you, ever, say to yourselves during the progression of those games “hey, this just feels stale and just like everything else I’ve ever played”? The answer is of course NO. None of you said that because despite the formula remaining the same, the game still innovated, still gave you that rush, and all the while playing as nothing had played before it.
I don’t want to make a long post, as I know many will just skim or skip over it, but really a valid counter argument can only be said in so few words. Sprint changed the formula of Halo, in fact, in it’s first 2 additions, it downright destroyed the formula. Halo 5’s sprint is the best effort so far, to include a mechanic which has such a profound impact on the formula. Look however at how that was achieved. The game is designed around it. It’s not just a simple movement mechanic, it defines the map design, how and where combat occurs. To many of you that might sound fine, but it does little to actually evolve Halo. Games like that already exit, where you have a defined break between combat and movement. All we’ve achieved is to actually narrow our choice, as now that ‘plays like nothing else formula’ has been reduced to a variant of the generic shooter.
I feel sprint or no sprint it is halo. In some matches I have seen that sprint and the thrusters combined add to the fast paced nature of the game. While taking away a piece of a game that is already enjoyable is like taking an ingredient to a food. Some people recognize the difference while others are not affected. Plus how would a player spartan charge with put sprint!
