I’ve also competed all the way up to H3, so I get the competitive angle. Not an argument. Articulate why we need sprint, why can’t this mechanic be replaced with one that doesn’t distort map design and limit your ability to fire. We know truth and heretic travel the same so clearly the map is designed just to use this illusion of pace. Claiming it’s the current year is silly and means nothing.

Ok. Why does that have to include sprint?
The two best FPS i’ve played this year that feel the freshest both do not use sprint. I’ve also played a lot of mediocre, generic FPS this year and they all use sprint.
If anything clinging to sprint(an old mechanic that was popularised by COD4 in 2007) is the old, antiquated way to do things. Dropping sprint is progressive and forward thinking.

You clearly didn’t understand the halo formula from the trilogy if you honestly think that sprint is such a great mechanic for this game. Start arguing about what positive changes it brings to game play instead of how halo needed to “stay relevant” with this mechanic, which couldn’t be further from the truth.

This. Plenty of popular shooters manage without sprint be they single or multiplayer. By making it so that a game isn’t considered and evolution because of a lack of sprint is like saying all games need loadouts, which Halo 4 proved that clearly not everyone thinks that way or wants it.

Indeed it does, but why would that include sprint?

Nice to see you guys are with me (anti-sprint), so I don’t have to waste my breath for the 1000th time lol. Good talk.
If they removed sprint since I really don’t care if they modify it or something so if they upped the base movement speed that means we lose Spartan charge and slide, a bigger radar since base movement speed is amped. Base movement is sprint speed so the game is still fast but has no sprint.

To a certain extent thats what everyone is advocating

I know that. But if we do go Base movement speed. We might need to change few things.

Same. We need to think of weapons that might have to change maybe and maybe make the vehicles faster.

You can slide without sprint. They would just need to keep the momentum/terminal velocity mechanic.

This, or they could tie it to thrusters to give it more distance or some such thing if they wanted to keep it.
The arguement of how halo “”"""“stole”"""" sprint from cod is just as believable as saying that halo “”"“stole”"" the first person shooting style from doom or wolfenestein

No this not the reason. If you do not have reason to talk about a valid argument about sprint then don’t post.
At one point in time I would have agreed with reverting to old mechanics… then I played halo 4, then 3, then 2, and let me tell ya, I freaking miss being able to spartan charge or ground pound in the old games. I found myself still trying to boost move with B button. I like the versatility. I don’t like all the bugs in forge and the fact that I no longer have friends who play halo. I miss the good old days…

Not saying you need to read the whole thread but we’ve been over this, allthough I disagree It needs to completly disappear I as a matter of fact WHOLEHEARTEDLY disagree. but it needs to be removed from the competetive and campaign for reasons explained to death already, really, just read back a little
