Is this nonsense still a thing. Forgot why I stopped coming to the forums then remembered. Halo is still “Halo” just because you don’t like the change doesn’t mean it’s not.
Why has this thread resurfaced? Sprint is part of the new era of halo games and just FPS games in general, its in halo now and it is definitely not ruining the game

How is it helping the game?

And just because you like the change doesn’t mean it is.
See what I did there?

Less spam please and more on sprint.
Honestly I’d much rather keep sprint. It makes for interesting encounters as well as ways to easily avoid or become part of the middle of a fight.

Personally I have no issue with anyone bringing up such things as map-stretching or sadbox hinderance on the part of sprint, but no-one seems to show i.e some map comparisons, measurements or something of similar caliber to actually back up these claims. ,Just because the game flow is different doesn’t mean that halo is “ruined” or “dead”. Custom games allow oppurtunity to design, play and manipulate the game to be played without sprint, so why not go try that out, and then with a fresh mind try to explain how the two game styles compare and how halo would benefit without the sprint mechanic. In these situations where halo is a very unstable franchise you should not be able to sucessfully propagate non-justified anecdotal evidence, just to make the game developers feel split and bow down for the sole reason that the fanbase are crybabies. I just ask anyone, with any opinion, to evaluate it on a fundemental level before posting it to the public. I am not criticising OP directly, or his/her opinion, but rather suggesting to take a step back, rewrite this forum post, and then get a healthy discussion going. Thanks!

I don’t know, I haven’t measured all maps.
Because you in particular say so?
Honestly I like sprint but if you want to play custom games without it their is an options to switch it off
The like ratio on the first two comments is nearly 3 to 1 in sprint’s favor…
156 pages of pointless argument later, and that’s not changing all that much. In a real-life election, that’s called a landslide.

Why Halo has to follow the trend?

True on that. I feel like this argument got pointless 150 pages ago about rambling about the same thing to a different person. To me, I like sprint, they balanced it pretty good to me in 5 and I use it to jump to a building piece easier or to point a to b. Besides, YOU don’t have to sprint. Its a option. Same thing with requisitions system not forcing you to pay money.

Funny, whenever any poll previously had non-sprint in favour it was one of these things:
-Only sprint complainers venture here and those who like sprint are elsewhere
-The sample is way too small so it could go either way

The sample would be small since I don’t think all of community is on Waypoint or know about it.

So what makes this 3 to 1 ratio in favour of sprint make it any different than previous sprint polls where it could be 10 to 1 for non-sprint? Where those “excuses” were said on the pro-sprint side.

Idk where but I would guess at the first page with that guy.
No. Sprint is a realistic feature. Spartans are capable of running. I know that’s hard to believe but its true. I think the reason most of you are upset about sprint is because you can’t snipe slow moving targets anymore or maybe the game moves too fast for you. But seriously sprint is here to stay and I honestly don’t know why you guys hate it so much. Seriously explain it to me someone.
At first I didn’t like sprint but I’ve come to appreciate it. I mean it’s not the 90s anymore, every game has sprint now. Besides the current maps are designed for it. There are certain spots you can only clamber to if you sprint jump so I do think it adds a new wrinkle to the gameplay.
I mean, one could argue that crouching isn’t a worthwhile mechanic, but I use it more now in this Halo than I ever have.
Like someone else said, if you don’t like the mechanic you don’t have to use it. If you need to travel a long distance then find a vehicle.

Why is sprint good for the gameplay?

Every shooter has it except Doom which was wildly praised for its fast paced, fun gameplay.
And since you mention the 90’s, Overwatch was heavily influenced by 90’s shooters and it’s extremely popular and people don’t seem to have a problem not sprinting in that game.
