> > > > Why is it that no-one makes some valid arguments or evidence to back up claims on the topic of a no-sprint halo? Personally I have no issue with anyone bringing up such things as map-stretching or sadbox hinderance on the part of sprint, but no-one seems to show i.e some map comparisons, measurements or something of similar caliber to actually back up these claims. ,Just because the game flow is different doesn’t mean that halo is “ruined” or “dead”. Custom games allow oppurtunity to design, play and manipulate the game to be played without sprint, so why not go try that out, and then with a fresh mind try to explain how the two game styles compare and how halo would benefit without the sprint mechanic. In these situations where halo is a very unstable franchise you should not be able to sucessfully propagate non-justified anecdotal evidence, just to make the game developers feel split and bow down for the sole reason that the fanbase are crybabies. I just ask anyone, with any opinion, to evaluate it on a fundemental level before posting it to the public. I am not criticising OP directly, or his/her opinion, but rather suggesting to take a step back, rewrite this forum post, and then get a healthy discussion going. Thanks!

I dont know if you remember Reaper MC, but he has comparison videos of movement speeds across maps, and I tweeted Josh Holmes to see that base speeds from Halo 3- Halo 4 were roughly the same. Marginal difference, which is actually listed in one of your links.

> The Pit wasn’t a small map from the start, and its remake Pitfall didn’t play the same. It could be remade in a 1:1 scale due to travel times being somewhat in line with what was sought after for other maps, and not make the map too chaotic.

> In terms of lengths, Haven, if I remember, was 30% longer in both the x and z axis. It is a tangible difference. Also, if I remember, outside of that thread I used to overview pictures, both of Guardian and Haven, black and white, to determine the percentage of playable space, from overview, and Haven was in overview area a lot bigger than Guardian.

> I got the assumption that BTB was the most liked playlist in Halo 4 because the game played better in the BTB setting than it did in 4v4. The data from that time, around launch, showed that 4v4 had a higher population than BTB. If memory serves, it took about a week for BTB to rise in popularity while 4v4 went down. 4v4 had always in every prior Halo been the most popular playlist, even in Reach.

> Truth being inspired by Midship is Josh Holmes’ “excuse” in order to not throw more fuel on the fire, a poor attempt at damage control. The map is an upscaled Midship with some changes in order to make all mechanics viable on the map, and to not make the flow, due to sprint, horrible. It is Midship upscaled in order to accommodate sprint.
I take it by this that Guardian is the smallest map in the Halo franchise then?
Yes yes, you hate 343 PR, we get it. Still an inspired map, and not a remake. Remakes are 1:1, and 343 has made remakes before.
