I pretty sure the new spartan abilities (save -Yoinking!- spartan charge) would be GENERALLY accepted in a halo game if they werent accompanied by sprint it would feel more competitive more strategic and would also still be recognizable to the fine tuned experience we got in halo 5. Warzone and customs would be a whole other beast entirely retaining ALL the features that made halo 5 successful would keep warzone great and would also allow more options for custom games, for those people that actually wanted to play in a sprint arena type setting they could actually fire up the in game custom game lobby adjust the filter and be good to go! lets face it, sprint has NO place in competitve halo and to argue that it does would just be absurd. this would allow arena maps to continue to be designed the PROPER way and please the vets and basically everyone whos willing to give it a chance and you wouldnt lose much of your sprint loving audience at all because there would still be sprint in the game it would just take a backseat!

Plus its against the rules to use separate accounts.

But I don’t need it, I’ve noticed I’ve been sprinting less and less because you can’t sprint if you want to heal. In breakout, sprinting is only used by me and my teammates to get to the middle of the map and not used after that. I would love it if there was a game type where sprint wasn’t allowed.
Yeah running is a great way to get killed.

Personally I have no issue with anyone bringing up such things as map-stretching or sadbox hinderance on the part of sprint, but no-one seems to show i.e some map comparisons, measurements or something of similar caliber to actually back up these claims. ,Just because the game flow is different doesn’t mean that halo is “ruined” or “dead”. Custom games allow oppurtunity to design, play and manipulate the game to be played without sprint, so why not go try that out, and then with a fresh mind try to explain how the two game styles compare and how halo would benefit without the sprint mechanic. In these situations where halo is a very unstable franchise you should not be able to sucessfully propagate non-justified anecdotal evidence, just to make the game developers feel split and bow down for the sole reason that the fanbase are crybabies. I just ask anyone, with any opinion, to evaluate it on a fundemental level before posting it to the public. I am not criticising OP directly, or his/her opinion, but rather suggesting to take a step back, rewrite this forum post, and then get a healthy discussion going. Thanks!

I dont know if you remember Reaper MC, but he has comparison videos of movement speeds across maps, and I tweeted Josh Holmes to see that base speeds from Halo 3- Halo 4 were roughly the same. Marginal difference, which is actually listed in one of your links.
>
> In general, I’d agree that small maps in H4-H5 are larger than CE-H3. Not much larger, but still larger. In the case of something like Ragnarok, I get the general sense that people liked BTB in Halo 4. Possibly due to sprint?
>
> Side note: Comparing Midship and Truth isnt exactly fair. Truth is inspired by Midship, but wasnt made to be a 1:1 remake. Its not the same vein as Heretic vs Midship.
The Pit wasn’t a small map from the start, and its remake Pitfall didn’t play the same. It could be remade in a 1:1 scale due to travel times being somewhat in line with what was sought after for other maps, and not make the map too chaotic.
Valhalla and the Ragnarok 1:1 remake, BTB map where the effect of sprint is smaller, however, even Ragnarok played differently when only sprint was utilised, no AAs at all.
In terms of lengths, Haven, if I remember, was 30% longer in both the x and z axis. It is a tangible difference. Also, if I remember, outside of that thread I used to overview pictures, both of Guardian and Haven, black and white, to determine the percentage of playable space, from overview, and Haven was in overview area a lot bigger than Guardian.
I got the assumption that BTB was the most liked playlist in Halo 4 because the game played better in the BTB setting than it did in 4v4. The data from that time, around launch, showed that 4v4 had a higher population than BTB. If memory serves, it took about a week for BTB to rise in popularity while 4v4 went down. 4v4 had always in every prior Halo been the most popular playlist, even in Reach.
Truth being inspired by Midship is Josh Holmes’ “excuse” in order to not throw more fuel on the fire, a poor attempt at damage control. The map is an upscaled Midship with some changes in order to make all mechanics viable on the map, and to not make the flow, due to sprint, horrible. It is Midship upscaled in order to accommodate sprint.
Sprint is a modern game mechanic and the series has benefited from including it.
The Sprint is Perfect, i agree.

So is sprint not good for the game? Give me a answer to the question. Educate me.

How do you know he hasn’t played the game? Maybe he played it his other account(if one exists). Maybe he played it on an old account. Maybe he played it on a friends account.

He’s saying that the guy never played any Halo game at all. look at his service record then spamming with questions.

Holyyy…
It’s against the rules to have alternative accounts.
It’s not against the rules of the forums to have a posting account not linked to your gaming account on XBL.

No, it isn’t and no it hasn’t. Or do you have an actual point to make here?

I don’t care about people’s service records. I care about what they have to say regarding the discussion. Either support your argument or admit you have none.
On that note, since you’ve been doing a whole lot of nothing, what’s your opinion of sprint? Does it have a positive effect on the game? If so, how?

rolls eyes no ones over the “no service record your opinion means nothing” thing yet? My service record shows I haven’t played the original hCE or h2 and very little of h3 but I have indeed played them many times over. In fact I could mention a few things that the originals didnt have in them that the mcc added. It’s also possible people could’ve played at a friends house, played it on a different account, or even just watched playthroughs of it by other people to get the gist. Never judge people by their waypoint records, some prefer to not link their normal account and prefer to just make an alt account only for posting on here.
Sprint isn’t going away, but it needs more balancing.

Easy. Sprint makes thing get to places faster but at the same changes the gameplay

Given how maps are built for the sprint speed, if anything, you’re traversing at normal speed when sprinting and consequently traversing at a slower speed when not sprinting. In other words, the actual intent of using sprint is not applied unless the maps are built for the slower speed (base speed), not the top speed (sprint speed).
Of course sprint changes the gameplay. Does it do so in a positive or negative way and why?

They’ve been tweaking and adjusting and balancing sprint for 3 games now. At what point can they realize that it just doesn’t work for Halo?

It seems more like both really. It changes in a good way but again in a bad way. I can’t really explain it.

So it’s good for the gameplay and bad for the gameplay, you just don’t know why? If you don’t know why, then how do you even know if it’s sprint causing these good and bad changes?
Why are you in this thread if you have nothing meaningful to add to it one way or the other? You literally made the most uncommitted post in this whole topic.
