Why remove it? Everyone sprints, if you don’t want to, then don’t. It’s not the world’s problem, or 343’s, just yours. Adapt to survive.

You are arguing it when you state that those factors have been “proven” to have no effect on Halo.
You cant argue correlation for one mechanic and then argue that other correlations have been proven to have no effect on Halo. Theres no proof of either of those claims.

Whatshisface explained why sprint is needed. None of those things applied to Halo. His theory was flawed. Your arguing a non-argument. The guy said sprint brings more players, which makes them more money. That didn’t happen with Halo and it does happen with other shooters without sprint. There’s no argument to be had, he was wrong.

and then you’ll die from being in the open since you won’t get anywhere near cover fast enough. Also just stating that there’s no problem with sprint doesn’t really contribute anything. Yet again we have another sprint supporter who doesn’t refute counter points. Yay.

The article says SINCE Halo 3, making the title misleading. That means Halo 5 only competed with Reach and Halo 4, meaning it competed with a divisive game and a train wreck. Wow so impressive. It probably still doesn’t come anywhere close to touching Halo 3’s what almost 1 million unique players per day? Let’s be honest the monthly updates are the things pulling people back and it’s probably people coming back or starting because the game is finally including modes they wanted at launch, but just got added now.
Also if halo isn’t dying and is doing okay explain the softer sales figures that they had to fluff with collectibles and special edition console sales just to be Halo 3 disc sales? Dying may be dramatic, but the Halo games have clearly declined since 343 took the reigns.
I disagree.
It would be so weird without it if they took it out in the next one.
However I would agree with going back to the way reach was.
Sprint was only available on one class as a “Special Ability”

We went from having jetpacks to having no jetpacks, we can deal without a slight boost in speed if 343 ups the base movement speed and changes some animations to make it actually look like we’re running at all times when out of combat.
Sprint serves a function. The devs can design the maps around having key encounter zones with significant distances between them. Sprint is a way to ordain larger-scale maps without larger-scale gameplay to match.
They could remove sprint and shrink the maps in response, which would be fine. Sprint or no sprint, it’s important that they adapt the rest of the game to match how the player moves. In every Halo game so far, Bungie and 343 have achieved as much ably.
I actually think sprint is OK for halo. What was so bad in halo 5 is that the storytelling is bad and the level design is the same all the campaign. Hallways.

With sprint you’re limited to moving faster in one direction and maps aren’t designed around players needing to hold out knives to make certain jumps, unlike in halo 5 where you must sprint to get to certain places. Compromises aren’t needed to fit that into the game like how Spartan charge is a compromise to get sprint into halo.
>
>
> Yes there are some differences, but that doesn’t mean that CS:GO doesn’t have sprint.
It doesn’t. That is not sprint. It is literally the same thing as holding a sword in halo 5. Now compare sprinting and holding a sword in halo 5 and tell me that’s the same thing. One is a movement mechanic, the other is to make a close ranged weapon more effective.
> Games should try to cater to all types of player
Nah. I’m never going to like specific games or kinds of games, and that’s fine, there’s other games to play out there. Those games don’t need to compromise the consistency of their design and thus their quality to appeal to me, someone who will never enjoy them anyways.
> One little game mechanic has a distinct correlation to the decline of a game’s popularity and population rather than a myriad of other interconnected factors doing the most harm?
Well I don’t see how that’s so implausible given the claims that one little mechanic is also apparently the reason for Halo’s survival in the modern market.
> Yes there are some differences, but that doesn’t mean that CS:GO doesn’t have sprint.
In CSGO you move at different speeds in all directions with different weapons, Pistols only being slightly slower than Knives.
If you take your Pistol out you can still shoot and you still move faster than you otherwise would using a primary.
The series has also historically had movement stun, meaning if you get shot while moving you will slow down tremendously.
Essentially, it’s a lot more complicated than just “CSGO has sprint.”

I pretty sure the new spartan abilities (save -Yoinking!- spartan charge) would be GENERALLY accepted in a halo game if they werent accompanied by sprint it would feel more competitive more strategic and would also still be recognizable to the fine tuned experience we got in halo 5. Warzone and customs would be a whole other beast entirely retaining ALL the features that made halo 5 successful would keep warzone great and would also allow more options for custom games, for those people that actually wanted to play in a sprint arena type setting they could actually fire up the in game custom game lobby adjust the filter and be good to go! lets face it, sprint has NO place in competitve halo and to argue that it does would just be absurd. this would allow arena maps to continue to be designed the PROPER way and please the vets and basically everyone whos willing to give it a chance and you wouldnt lose much of your sprint loving audience at all because there would still be sprint in the game it would just take a backseat!

For you to say. You never played Halo 5 at all or any other Halo.
