Overwatch feels so awkward in movement, (which is one reason I didn’t get it). Doom and Overwatch are both extremely fun at face value, the first 2-3 weeks are very fun, but there’s so little to do that it gets old real quick. I actually got Doom, and I only got it because it was a classic I grew up with and I loved the demo. I probably only play it about once a week now. Overwatch is a very casual game and I will admit that I’d does warrant some praise on many aspects, but there’s so little to do in terms of game that if you avidly play it, you’ll get through all of the characters several times and get bored of playing them in the same game modes.

Overwatch is popular because it brings new and original aspects to the FPS genre and it introduces an extremely diverse class based system to a new generation of gamers.

I get the Doom argument, but one of the easiest to use characters in Overwatch has a sprint button and he’s pretty op with it. They added him specifically for pro-sprinters didn’t work and also to parody the modern FPS games.

The main reason you feel like a badass in doom is because most of the weapons do so much damage that the massive amount of health and shielding you feel invincible and fragile at the same time.

I do admit that sprint could mess these games up, but no sprint doesn’t do much to making the game groundbreaking. These games aren’t also undeniably great because of sprint because there are so many variables that went onto making these games great. Maybe in the next year we’ll see if any more great games come out and if no sprint becomes the new trend.

Overwatch’s sprint character is used less than 7% of the time. If he were OP, he’d be used a lot more.

Doom and Overwatch are prime examples of sprint being unnecessary for fun, fast paced gameplay. That’s the whole point of the no sprint argument. Rather than thinking for themselves and trying to be creative, 343 is including sprint because they think it’s necessary, but it isn’t.

Halo was trash ever since they implemented sprint. Bottom line. End of story.

I honestly don’t think sprint makes a big difference either way. I think it makes sense for sprint to be in Halo. If you read the Halo novels, there are instances of Spartans sprinting on several occasions, so it fits with the lore.

The kill times in doom are quite comparable to h5. The burst rifle kills in 4 shots(more against shielded opponents). The single shot rifle is a 5 shot. The auto rifle kills in a similar kill as the AR. H5 shotgun actually kills faster. H5 rockets kill faster.

I’m not sure where you’re getting this from.

Not a chance

We’ve had sprint for 6 years, halo needs to evolve or be left behind. Its time to up the base movement speed and be able to shoot at the same time. Were super soldiers why can we shoot and run, its in the lore.

I agree. I don’t see how one mechanic like sprint is some how game making or game breaking. It hilarious how some seem to define a game by one simple mechanic. I love Halo either way. But sprint has been in it long enough I feel it should stay. To me H2A played great and H5 plays great. I don’t get what the big deal is if sprint stays or goes.

Likewise- Furthermore, I don’t see how this thread is still going. Sprint has been in Halo for over half a decade and it’s not going anywhere anytime soon.

Sprint undermines the very central, core pillar that Halo gameplay was built upon.

Moving and shooting at the same time.

That’s why for so many people, sprint is such a big deal.

Sprint is a dated mechanic that most modern games are no longer using.

Halo needs to evolve with the times or risk being left behind.

But halo needs to evolve or it will get left behind. Its a useless animation really, it just keeps us from moving and shooting at the same time. We can all watch MLG gameplay from the H2/3 days and see how fast the game actually can be played. BMS just needs a proper boost and a sandbox/ map design that is working with this gameplay.

Me too. But the sprint debate itself is a dated issue and most players won’t be wasting time bumping threads to attempt to revive the issue.

Sprint is a part of Halo now. It would all quickly become “too slow” if they removed it. I still play Reach every now and again, and it’s a PAIN knowing that I can’t sprint…

Why do you think that? Doom has no sprint and it’s probably the fastest console shooter on th market.

Please understand those advocating a removal for sprint are in return advocating for a increased base movement speed. Just read a few replies and you would be able to recognize this request.

Its amazing how many core pillars of the Halo franchise there are.

Look its Halo!

I wish that where true I guess some can’t stand having to hit one button to go a bit faster in a game so they rage.
