I’d say sprint would be good if they could fix a few things such as adding a sprint meter to prevent people from just running away for literally 3 minutes. Other than that, sprint is fine the way it is, it works well in the game but it’s not too powerful to the point where you can overly abuse it.

If you increased the base movement speed, it would just wreak the gameplay of most of the game modes, especially the objective ones. You can try it out with some friends if you don’t believe me, I have and the only game mode it really works ok for is Slayer. We made the movement speed 125% in case you want to try it out yourself.

This, taking sprint would make the maps suck even worse and Warzone. Warzone is legit made for sprint. removing sprint might make Halo 5 worse and maybe future Halos.

Nobody is advocating for halo 5 to be rid of sprint. This game is done and dusted, were speaking about future titles.

yeah, I said it in my last sentence, it MIGHT make future Halos that have Warzone and Halo 5 maps make the game suck MAYBE as long they make the maps were MADE for no sprint.

Thats the point, they would be made around the mechanics the game establishes.

To me, I neither really against sprint or like sprint. But one thing that I like sprint is it helps me get to some where quick. I see do see why 343 put the shields to your sprint so it makes the player stop and let them recharge since their life is on sprint. Remember Halo 4 sprint, it was limited was the thing. What if they made Halo 5 sprint the way it is but its limited so you have to wait a while like the thrusters have like a cool down and has like the Halo reach sprint meter.

See, this is the thing. Maps have been made to work with sprint. The time from one side of a map to another is nearly identical in comparison to past halo games. Read OP

I remember reading and watching a video about this. Wouldn’t they just make classic Halo maps like Truth maximize for sprint?

Its called midship, and Truth is elongated for sprint. The entire discussion is based around eliminating the mechanic and increasing a standard base movement speed. TTC (conflict) is increased and there is no lowering of your weapon get from point A to point B. There is tons of arguments presented in past pages and I’ll elaborate if necessary, one of the best arguments is here.

Just an idea I’ve seen thrown around but I feel like it could work.

What if the arena side of halo 6 was non-sprint but the warzone side was with sprint?

I know that this separates the game and that would be the down side, that it would be like two different games. I feel as though warzone is already the very casual game experience that it’s really a place where sprint fits in.

In a competitive setting like arena sprinting just seems redundant. You’re -Yoink!- if you do use it and -Yoink!- if you don’t. If you make maps to fit a non-sprint style of gamplay you remove the redundant scenario.

The problem about removing the new mechanics is that the new players who don’t know halo or video games in general maybe won’t like it and maybe halo wouldn’t sell so much, I know halo fans will buy it but a big percent of people just buy video games without caring if is halo or something else, if it originally had sprint or not, they only want games to be fun.

I’d say sprint would be good if they could fix a few things such as adding a sprint meter to prevent people from just running away for literally 3 minutes. Other than that, sprint is fine the way it is, it works well in the game but it’s not too powerful to the point where you can overly abuse it.

You are right. Halo 5 can’t be changed. What me and a lot of other people want is for future games to get rid of Sprint.

That’s a too bad situation ghost rider.

or we bump up base movement speed and do a slight animation change to give people the perception of a quasi sprint without having to go through sprint animations while increasing gameplay speed and skill gap and remove the frustration of having to ready the gun again and shield recharge delay reset.

Also I don’t think Halo 5 plays any faster than Halo 2 or 3. Play Midship or Ivory Tower and it really isn’t a lot of difference because there’s constant action due to no map stretching. I will say that BTB feels slower because those maps are still big but Halo 3 had the decency to actually have vehicles.

I don’t want Halo 5 to get rid of sprint and were it up to me sprint and war zone wouldn’t be in Halo 6 unless BTB is actually given its due. The point is that many anti sprint people want faster movement speed but feel that there’s a more efficient way of doing it without slowing the game down and having to tie up all these different mechanics in it to keep it balanced.

Problem is Halo 5 has been the worst selling Halo in recent memory. Lack of sales figures and Gamestop saying it sold very softly and not to expectation show that not a lot of people are into Halo anymore which helps explain 343’s retention argument. It has better retention than Halo Reach and 4, but that isn’t surprising given how polarizing those games were especially when they had higher sales numbers so more people left. Halo 5 had less people to retain or lose and now they’re basically padding the soft sales with req money that the fanboys just keep throwing to them since they have no control seemingly on buying RNG rolls on items that will cease being useful once they move to the next game and gone once the servers go down entirely.

Hang 'em high. Right here the reason for sprint .

You couldn’t be more wrong. I can’t even begin to explain as to why. If you honestly think that taking Spring out would make Halo feel like Halo again, you haven’t had full experiences with every Halo title

I have a question for the community, what about the compromise of sprint being left out of arena and left in Warzone and playlists like BTB?

That might work or just a classic playlist.

I should have specified I was talking about future titles. A classic playlist would only work with maps being designed around the classic gameplay. This could be done, but I doubt 343 would develop 2 sets of maps types considering the type of gameplay. That would only leave room for forgers which sometimes are a hit or miss. They would have to redesign the gameplay to create an all new non sprint arena or just keep sprint. The latter being the easiest.

There’s tons of remade maps from the classic Halo games I found.
