He does have a solid argument… The fact that this topic is still even a topic is just… Sad, for lack of better words

Yeah you’re right it is sad, that after the backlash Bungie got for putting armor abilities in the game 343i in the following game keeps armor abilities and makes one of them a default ability. It’s a real shame that after that game got harsh criticism for its addition of armor abilities that the next game 343i would make would have armor abilities again but everybody has all of them.
It’s like 343i kept making a game for a community that wasn’t the Halo community, it was like they were appealing to a different community. Like all of the Halo fans screaming were just dust and echos to them.
Halo CE to Halo 2 did enough to the gameplay to keep it familiar and but fresh. Halo 2 to Halo 3 managed to make the transition familiar but fresh. Halo 3 to Halo reach…wait what the -Yoink-.

That’s not at all what I was going for. The endless complaining is what’s sad, and Halo 2 was my all time favorite in the series. Sprint is better to me, although having one or two classic modes without it would be a nice throw back but Halo will never go back to no sprint. That’s something you’ll have to eventually make peace with.

I knew what you meant, I just made it seem like I didn’t. I just wanted to make a point that flowed after what you said.

Not really considering it is so divisive and this thread is as long as it is. Many points have been brought up on both sides proving there is still room for debate.

I’ll make the same point again. Why do we have to settle for it? Just because it’s been in two games doesn’t make it set in stone. Armor abilities are gone. The BR went back to a a 4sk after enough feedback and months of waiting in Halo 4. Sprint was tweaked for Halo 5 and according to 343 a highly debated inclusion even before that.
Again look at games like doom and overwatch being hailed for fast paced and strategic gameplay, be they single or multiplayer, neither of them have sprint or have extremely limited incorporation of it, all the while maintaining a competitive core or fast skill dependent play that still leaves room for players who aren’t that great. Halo has completely lost touch with this and it is what made 2 and 3 the legends they are in the online communities.
Halo hasn’t incorporated sprint well for a game that wants to be competitive. Having a delay alone before you’re ready to fire is bad enough not to mention the multiple points of how maps have been stretched just to incorporate it just so people have their precious immersion that can easily be replicated by just increasing base speed and acceleration and changing the animations slightly to make it seem more dynamic instead of a wobbling gun.

That’s sad too… Well good luck holding on to those “please no sprint,” hopes but personally I’d rather they don’t come true.
BTW @Benti- the fact that a thread is droning on for a while doesn’t indicate that the topic is worth discussing, in this case it’s akin to a can being continually kicked around. The other point you tried to make again was TL;DR to me so sorry you’ll have to try to debate sprint with someone else.

If you don’t care about the topic then why are you even on the thread? Also the entire point of a forum is discussing. I guess by your logic bringing back elites which was over 300 pages was also not worth discussing. Do you even understand the point of a forum?
Also don’t bring up arguments or tell people something isn’t worth discussing or TL;DR if you aren’t going to participate like an ignorant troll.

It’s worth noting that the entire point for a forum doesn’t boil down to endless debates that consist of going round and round in circles forever.
There are many instances where threads carry on, such as the now infamous split screen removal thread and the elite thread you referenced… That said, there’s also a reason why it’s against forum rules to necro old threads, which is the intent of this thread in particular. While this thread didn’t technically, “necro,” any of the old sprint debate threads in particular, it brought back the same arguments about sprint that’ve been long dead. Many other people are expressing similar concern regarding this thread because this topic is quite old and this thread is now revitalizing the exact same arguments we all saw years ago.
Sprint is here to stay now, so forgive me if I prefer to argue relevant things that matter but the great sprint debate is a thing of the past. I meant no disrespect by telling you “TL;DR,” but I personally do not intend to allow myself to get pulled back into an argument that rightfully ended in these forums years ago during the Halo 4 days…
I tried playing Halo 3 the other day and I could NOT get into it. As high as we used to jump back then, and without sprint, the game felt so slow and boring. Sprint is needed imo

If you don’t want to be sucked into this argument there are plenty other threads to go into. I don’t see how coming to this one and saying “I don’t want to be here, and your wrong for being here” is doing anything other than moving away from the topic.

That’s something you’ll have to eventually make peace with.

As Benty stated, forums are for discussing so I have the right to leave my opinion on this thread. My opinion, which others here clearly share, is that this topic is old and these arguments are the same thing we’ve seen for years. I didn’t say “I don’t want to be here.” I just left my opinion on the topic, that’s all.

This topic has been annoying, Halo 1-3 and reach (I dont count the sprint armor ability anything more than an armor ability. It was there if you wanted it and I never used it. Bubble shield and Active Cameo all the way.) where fine with out sprint. Most older games I knew of didn’t have sprint. But now it’s finally made its way into the halo mechanic and I think it’s great. But I agree if you don’t like sprint then don’t sprint. You’ll just get to places slower which could be both advantage and disadvantage. Same with Sprinting, could be an advantage or a disadvantage. It’s just how you play the game.

I was paraphrasing. This thread has as much a right to be here as every other thread.
your opinion is on the thread itself not what the thread is actually talking about. You aren’t trying to prove why sprint should be in the game you’re trying to prove that this thread is redundant because of the threads that have come before it. I don’t think that’s adequately adding to what people have been posting here.

I did add my opinion to the topic, which is completely why these forums exist- to add/share opinions on topics.
I do find it a bit difficult to add to a topic that’s been added onto for years and years and years… It started in the Reach days, reached its climax during the Halo 4 days, and slowly died away right around the MCC days (with a slight revival in the pre-launch Halo 5 days). I’ve seen this discussion go on a long time and there doesn’t seem to be any logical ending or conclusion.
Bottom line is that most people either like or don’t mind sprint and some people have and always will dislike sprint… But there isn’t much room for middle ground between the two sides therefore this topic is a perpetually moving round and round in circles. That’s my point- there is no point to necro’ing a topic that has no point.

I’d say sprint would be good if they could fix a few things such as adding a sprint meter to prevent people from just running away for literally 3 minutes. Other than that, sprint is fine the way it is, it works well in the game but it’s not too powerful to the point where you can overly abuse it.

Bro think a little. It worked in 1-3 because the movement speed was perfectly set for the environment, but it was slow enough to where you couldn’t run around with a shotgun all willy-nilly. If you increased the base movement speed, it would just wreak the gameplay of most of the game modes, especially the objective ones. You can try it out with some friends if you don’t believe me, I have and the only game mode it really works ok for is Slayer. We made the movement speed 125% in case you want to try it out yourself.

Then perfectly set the environment for the increased speed and all of its effects of gameplay. Not sure why people act like maps are made before the gameplay is figured out.
Halo 5’s maps are made for sprint, so of course removing sprint won’t fix all the issues with the maps. But it’s a start by letting always run and shoot.
You’re implying a lack of sprint with a faster base speed (or perhaps just a wider FOV) would be unbalanced, but being unbalanced would mean something about it creates unfair or advantageous situations for players. It doesn’t.
