The Splatter System in this game needs work

Seriously, a vehicle can tap you while barely moving and instantly kill you. You can die by standing beside a scorpion and it turning slightly. A wraith that is not moving can splatter you if you try to hijack it. Meanwhile, a full-speed ghost might only knock out your shield.

Boil me in oil but I like the splatter system in this game.

Yep. I ran over 5 people with my Ghost resulting in 1 kill. It does need work.

I’ve killed more people tapping them on the foot than ramming them with a ghost

I hate splattering. I’ve been splattered by a barely moving tank and I have a cilp of me boosting into a guy in a ghost and hitting him and I literally bounced off and flipped over.

Getting tapped by a side strafing ghost… come on lol.

Its too easy to get splattered from vehicles in this game.

You forgot to mention that if a teammate has a ghost and you get with ten feet of it your shields die half the time.

I agree, splatters are way too easy for both enemies and friendly players.

I barely move a ghost and it splatters my teammate. I charge full speed head on at an enemy and it does nothing. Scorpions running over my toes kills me.

And yet, people loved Combat Evolved.

But in Combat Evolved, you never went up to vehicles up close because there was no hijacking. In this game, you have to get very close to enemy vehicles to board them, and it’s frustrating when you try but get killed because the vehicle nudges you slightly. If you were rammed full-on by a vehicle you were trying to hijack, that would make sense and that’s on you for dying. But standing next to a tank and it turning and tapping you, and KILLING you, a fully augmented supersoldier in power-armor with energy shields that can survive 16 bullets from a fully automatic futuristic assault rifle, doesn’t make sense, in this year of games.

But in this game, you also have Plasma Pistols that EMP vehicles, and Thruster Packs to dodge out of the way. To be honest, hijacking Scorpions and Wraiths is somehow far easier than in any other Halo, even if the physics are a little off. As for driving vehicles like the Warthog or Ghost, copy-pasting the Hemorrhage Anti-Gravity Rock from Reach into Halo 5 was not 343i’s best idea.

the point here isn’t that there are lots of ways to counter vehicles so it doesnt matter. the point is vehicles like a ghost can be not moving and splatter you when they move to the side 2 feet. in past halos you had to thrust into someone to splatter them (under most circumstances). now there is a huge mishmash going on. I’ve splattered a guy at full speed only to have my ghost flip through the air and the person live. that shouldn’t happen either. the system needs tweaking.

it mostly has to do with the bad vehicle physics. the warthogs don’t drive realistically for such a huge and heavy vehicle, and the gungoose has become the strongest vehicle on BTB. its all kinda messed up.

the plasma pistol and hijacking seem to be more than enough to counter vehicles most of the time. i guess i just wish i knew the “rules” to boarding each vehicle. seems like there is a certain “way” you have to approach each vehicle or you will miss the hijack and get splattered even when the vehicle doesnt know you’re there. maybe this is on purprose in order to make hijacking harder. if thats the case then whatever, its not a big deal. i do think the way that vehicles drive should be tweeked.

you should not flip over when you try and splatter a spartan in a ghost, your ghost should level them and continue on without much interference. we can all agree on that i believe, right?

also ghosts, or tanks, or warthogs, should not be able to tap you with the side of their vehicle for a kill. sure lower my shields, or whatever, but it should NOT kill you unless it runs you over . right?

Agreed. I can’t say how many times I’ve been crouching at the highest part of my jump just to get splattered by a ghost? Yet I’ll run people over and have them just get pushed out of the way?

Yup. It has regressed all the way back to Halo 1 physics. Boarding is now only allowed on a 2 foot section of the tank and it keeps putting you in the gunner seat. The ghost flips if you drive over a dime and acts like you’re driving it under water, sticking to every random surface. The physics is terrible, and usually one of the hardest things for incompetent devs to figure out.

Please don’t change it. It is frustrating sometimes, but overall I am satisfied that my splatters actually work in this game. If the price to pay for splatters to work is making Spartans super fragile to impact so be it. It’s ok if ramming a noob with a ghost works about 4 out of five times. People survive some crazy -Yoink- sometime. The point is that splatters straight up did not work in H2/3 and I do not want that back . Leave it as it is please 343. Also Wraith is easy as -Yoink- to board/destroy.

I have a video of someone manteling over my ghost instead of splatter during high speed boost impact.

Also there was no variability in what happened. If it was moving, touching it killed you. So there was no sometimes touch and die, other times smack into at 999999 mph and be fine.
