Welcome, fellow Halo fans! I recently saw the Twitter post that Frank O’Connor made about the clue for the much speculated and only “Remake Level” in Halo 4’s shipped maps. For all of you who haven’t, here it is:
> @k_wolfkill @RobSemsey KIDS ARE READING THIS RIGHT NOW AND TRYING TO GUESS WHAT THE BIG REMAKE MAP IS BASED ON THIS CLUE: Carta De Oaxaca.
Carta De Oaxaca… What does it mean? The following post will be everything that we’ve PROABABLY over thinked, and I’m here to give you the facts so you can decide what it will actually be. So, here goes nothing.
-WHAT IS “CARTA DE OAXACA”?-
Carta De Oaxaca is a Mexican food restaurant in Seattle, Washington (http://www.lacartadeoaxaca.com/) Carta De Oaxaca also translates to “Letter of Oaxaca”, but this could mean nothing.
This restaurant is in Washington, which is the state where 343i is located. This could be a place where people at 343i might go for lunch. Why does this matter?
For people who don’t trust links, this is Jesse Snyder saying the following:
> For fun at 343, Ray, our lead level designer modeled the Eastside of the Seattle area with the places we eat for lunch.
and
> …People going for lunch get to place three marines in places they don’t like
He also goes on to talk about Grunt’s having random path finding, but this is not important.
-WHAT COULD THIS ALL LINK TO?-
Well, most people who live in Washington decided to eat at this restaurant after Frank O’Connor posted this on Twitter, and have reported the following.
> I just got back from Seattle where I had lunch at La Carta de Oaxaca. When I entered they greeted me by saying: “Welcome to La Carta de Oaxaca where Valhalla once stood and Don Miguel Julio Juarez III died while fighting to bring you this great Mexican food! Is this to stay or to go?”
>
> Its totally Valhalla.
I don’t claim for this to be true, but if it is, I don’t remember Valhalla ever being a part of Mexican culture. (Correct me if I’m wrong though :P)
Also, the restaurant has a burrito that is called “Mexican-Standoff Burrito”, which could also be a clue.
Another thing said by others on the forum is…
> La Carta de Oaxaca is in the Ballard area of Seattle. Apparently Ballard is known for its Scandinavian culture. Scandinavia is a part of the Nordic countries. Valhalla is from Norse mythology. The Nordic Heritage Museum is even near La Carta de Oaxaca.]
Other speculations think that the map could be Longshore becuase the place sells fish tacos. Sandtrap might be another possibility because Mexican food is from… Mexico, and Mexico is a…erm… Desert. But, this is all speculation.
-WHAT DO WE KNOW THAT’S NOT SPECULATION?-
Well, what we know that the map is BIG. And very big. And supposedly will “cause the least drama of any new thing”
Other than that, we know almost nothing about it.
Well that’s all I have. If you have anything to contribute, please post down below. And if any of my facts are wrong, please post too. And also…
DISCUSS!
