The spawning algorithm

The spawning algorithm in halo 5 needs to seriously be looked at. i know since this is constructive criticism this will most likely be removed and i will be banned so I don’t know why i bother wasting my time. i know i wont be listened to since its only the top 1% MLG players that are listened to. When i spawn into a grenade or a BR spam its just not fun or in war zone when I spawn directly in front of a hunter or directly in front of a vehicle it gives me no reason to come back and play the game, At this point the game is no longer fun with the spawn system. At one point I quit because the system was so flawed, I just feel that its time to have the system looked at and it’s time to listen to the little guys.

My best spawning story was on Noctus.

I was spawned onto the highway once…Which just so happened to lack nearby cover…Which just so happened to be near an enemy-controlled base…Which just so happened to contain an active enemy Sniper…

Fun times.

I Just want the system to be improved upon. Everyone knows its a problem anyone can see it after a few matches. I just don’t know why nothing has been done about it.

I think since 343 had to switch to Xbox One that they had to remake the spawning Algorithm. I’m pretty sure that they moved to a new version of Havok for the Xbox One and because of that they lost the old algorithms and other code that they had been reusing for a long time.

Still I am surprised serious nothing has been done about it.

Yeah, it seems like a big issue. For all we know 343 is working on it but they haven’t told the community, I think they should be more open about the development.

I agree because if they came out and said, “Yes we are working on the spawning.” I feel a lot more people would hang in there instead of just up and leaving. Than again most of the staff did come from Bungie and we do all know how Bungie is/was about letting the community in on update information.

I’ve never had the experience of bad spawns in War zone because I get an overview of the general area I’m about to spawn into. If I see enemy Spartans assaulting my armory then I know I will spawn away from the armory in less cover. Most the time I’ll just spawn there anyway, but if I’m pulling out a high level REQ I’ll consciously make the effort to spawn in a safe place.

I do believe the system needs reworking, but the spawn system does allow a player to spawn in safely for a brief second. This is because if an enemy is in proximity to a spawn, you will not spawn there. It’s clear to see on War zone when an armory is being contested. I for one have never spawned in front of the whole team, but my team has had it’s -Yoink- handed to them, so there is no other place for me to spawn, but into gunfire. Point is: The spawn system works for a skillful team.

There is a certain predictability to spawns and good players teams understand this will not flip spawns and throw nades at potential spawns whilst looking at others.

Most of the spawn problems come from team mates pushing too far or just running around the map causing flips or forcing spawns in bad sight lines.

War zone is different though seems worse than normal slayer.

Nothing worse than being spawn killed because team mates flip spawns and enemy spawns behind you whilst another enemy is in front of you

I recorded a game of SWAT on plaza, I got killed by a guy while I was at the lift down bottom… I spawned 3 feet in front of my corpse, guy who just killed me was still staring in my direction, killed me again, I respawn standing on my still falling corpse!!! Killed again… dude got a triple kill on me! Yeah, the spawns are beyond f-d up in this game

They need to add spawn protection or something invincibility for 10 sec and your weapons do less damage during this period.

For sure. Yesterday, I had spawned into a couple weird areas. Both times was in front of an enemy, and of course they shoot, but they almost get a double…Both these spawn areas were new to me. This should not be possible ?

Once I spawned on The garage on the Storm and it put me right in front of the serpent hunter at the enemies armory

Spawn protection would be nice for sure, than you would have people crying saying it got them killed because they wasted 1-2 shots and ran out of ammo.

Exactly, once.

Once is enough for it to be flawed. there are also many other instances that i choose not to document.

Anybody else here spawn inside the red tubing on Raid on Apex 7 near the East Armory?

Most recently I’ve spawned on top of one of the buildings near the armoury on A.R.C., where the game warned me to return to the battlefield; I spawned in the air over the edge of the cliff on Stormbreak so I immediately fell to my death, and once I even spawned inside the crashed Pelican on Noctus. I could see through the Pelican and move around inside it, but I couldn’t get out so I had to blow myself up.

The amount of times I’ve spawned in front of a boosting ghost or an incoming tank shell is just silly too. But I’m not sure if that’s to do with bad spawns or just bad luck…

Lol that’s not how it works. Those kinds of “algorithms” are abstract, and not platform-dependent. They created a whole new spawn system. It’s dynamic. It generates spawns within a region (I’m assuming). That’s why you spawn in awkward places – on the side of a cliff, under garage, and inside scenery. It’s a cool idea, but it’s a terrible implementation.

I think you know the answer to that, if the spawn was not an option to began with how could it be luck?
