The Spartan Laser needs a buff badly.

As it stands it is a nearly worthless weapon that straight up doesn’t work on infantry and is horribly inconsistent against vehicles, and is pretty much useless against the higher tier variants of vehicles, taking multiple hits to destroy even Sword Ghosts, which is horrible considering its very low ammo. The Endgame Variant with a weaker beam was designed for infantry, and cannot harm them. You pretty much need Selene’s Lance if you want anything to do with the laser. And that, considering its past status, is sad.

Yeah it is pretty bad. I was sitting on Apex trying to destroy an Ultra Banshee. Didn’t do much damage even after hitting it with every single Spartan Laser blast.

In my opinion as much as I hate Reach, it had the last good laser that had 4 shots. It tore up vehicles and had some of the coolest medals with it, did anyone ever get a Sunburst with the laser?

And you know what else? It can’t even destroy a regular Banshee in one hit anymore. -Yoink- that, 343i.

Maybe a 10% damage buff and a friendlier scope but other than that the Spartan lazor REQs legendary bosses.

yup! worst weapon in the game BY FAR!! Doesn’t matter what game mode (arena or warzone)

Make it like how it was in Halo 3, where it could actually, you know…kill people. It was a one hit kill in the past games and it should be again. It is a LASER after all…

Funny. I used the base laser and 1 shot a oni warthog. Killed the tank master. Killed a banshee. And killed a wraith. Spartan laser is fine. It’s a anti vehicle weapon that works well. Endgame is great for its first shot and selenes Lance is a beast.

Maybe a better scope for it but that’s it. Would make it op as hell to buff it

I think the Splaser should be able to 1 shot Sword Ghosts and/or banshees, maybe cripple Ghost and Banshee Ultras?

lol takes percision to effectively use the spartan laser now. Aim for the weakest spots or wait to for the vehicle’s hp to be low enough for a one shot. And no where in the darn description it says that the Spartan Laser is an Anti-Infantry weapon. Can be use on infantry, but you’re gonna need some patience and marksmanship to pull that off. Spartan Laser does not mean it is meant to kill spartans because Spartan is mentioned in its name. It is nicknamed spartan laser because it was developed the same time the mjolnir armor was. It’s fine at where its at.

halo 4 was the first halo i know of that made the laser a 2 hit kill for vehicles. and i believe in that game it was mostly the mantis or tank that took 2 shots. just seems like every halo previous has made the laser able to take out a ghost or a mongoose ( at least) with one hit. i hit a ghost straight on and it should kill them. same with the incineration cannon, the rockets, etc. incineration cannon seems to be the only one that does it anymore. banshees take two rockets now. it used to only be one. I’m fine with the change i guess, it just seems like the balance between vehicles, power weapons, and precision weapons is a little off. id be better off just using my BR to get an enemy mongoose then to use the laser.

most people don’t pick it up anymore. that means other people feel the same way. better off without it. thats the problem here. its weak and not many people use it.

The Endgame Variant with a weaker beam was designed for infantry, and cannot harm them.

Do you have any proof that supports this? or are you just complaining because you’re bad with the splaser?

it even sounds terrible now.

I thought it was bad too, but then I figured out the mechanics behind the beam it emits.

The spartan laser 3 beams work differently then in previous games. In previous halo’s you simply had to touch the enemy with all 3 beams to register a full hit. In halo 5 you actually need to keep the lasers trained on the enemy until it’s done shooting. It works sorta like a binary rifle now, the beams keep doing damage so if you just graze a banshee as it’s flying by it won’t do jack as the banshee was only hit by 10% of the beam duration and it’s built in shields will tank most of the round.

I figured this out by testing with friends in custom games and also by spartan lasering the enemy core in warzone, instead of doing one chunk of damage the cores HP went down very quickly like it was being drained by a continuous beam attack for the 1 second the lasers beams were touching it. (side note, if you can hit the core with a laser it does like 75% damage to it lol)

After learning this is how the Spartan laser works in halo 5 I’ve been planning my shots much more carefully and only shooting banshees when they are on straightaways and not directly aware of me trying to laser it.

The normal banshee definitely gets one shotted by the laser if you hit it all the way like I said, and the banshee ultra will be pretty damn messed up afterwards after a full duration hit.

The splaser has been garbage in every game since H3. H3 was the only game that had a laser worth a damn.

All I know is that I emptied all four shots from a Spartan Laser into one of the two AI wraiths on Noctus, did not miss (the beam stayed on for the full duration) and he still had ~20% of his health left.

Between the time it takes to charge up, the fact that you have to hold the beam steady on target, and that it only has four shots… I never use the thing. It doesn’t do enough damage for me to justify the risks of using it, or spending the REQ energy when I could get a Void’s Tear or anything else, really.

That’s because they want to encourage you to grind/ pay real money for the “cool” rarer ones. Pretty stupid IMO, does not fit in well.

Those ai vehicles are much more sturdy then a normal version of the vehicle. I’m guessing you shot it straight on instead of the sides and rear reactor thing?

My Ultra Wraith got destroyed with 2x Spartan Laser hit after getting minimal damage from enemies Spartan BR burst.

NO BUFFS, NO NERFS! Don’t like a weapon? Don’t use it, use something else.

I don’t want a insane buff that makes the weapon OP, I just wish it wasn’t so random when shooting at infantry! I loved blasting people with the laser!
