I can only pray we will hear this iconic sound for the halo years to come… I mean it might as well be as important as the Chief himself.
Halo 2 soundtrack was the best in the original trilogy IMO, a big advancement of the already great CE soundtrack, pity Halo 3 turned out to be terrible in this regard. (maybe a little too harsh)
If it rivals Halo 2, I will be pleased.
I found that Halo 2’s music had an effect on the story of the game itself, something that I feel has only been done by ODST, Reach and 2.
Halo 3 and CE had good music, but there were usually random tracks that did not suit the things going on as well as the others. I also felt they did not have enough music, and most of the tracks in Halo 3 were too subtle, or from previous games.
Halo 2’s was the best not only because of the quality of the music (aside from a few tracks), but because it played a pivotal role in the game. Anyone remember playing as the Arbiter in a Ghost on Uprising with the song Reclaimer going off in the background?
Or the Delta Halo Suite playing while we dropped feet first into hell on Installation 05? Or The Last Spartan playing as we gave the Covenant back their bomb?
Of course you do. If the music can have an effect such as this, I will be very, very happy!
Halo 4’s soundtrack is going to be affected by the musings of Sotaro Tojima; a japnese composer most notable for the MGS4 music.
Honestly, Japan make beautiful music (look at the music in Naruto, Gundam seed, Bleach, Ghost in the shell…eh?
343 mentioned that that track was very special to the fans and a big part of Halo. They also mentioned that the soundtrack would be familiar, but new. But the new guy is a bucket of talent so whatever it is, it will be awesome.
I’m surprising myself somewhat by making this claim, but I don’t think I’d mind if this track doesn’t return. For me, it’s synonymous not with the Halo games themselves, but specifically with Installation 04. When I hear, none of the levels that were set on Earth, or Installation 05, or even the Ark come to mind. Ideally, the new trilogy will have its own set of iconic tracks that will be as thematically perfect as this track was for the first Halo game.
I hope Halo 4’s music is like Halo 2’s. In my opinion, the soundtracks are, from best to worst:
Halo 2 (I found the entire uncut soundtrack on YouTube in suite form, it’s over 3 hours long!!!)

Halo: Anniversary

That was really good. I was surprised to learn it was IGN’s doing as well. (after seeing that trailer again…I am even more anxious for the “real” trailer…)
I trust the new guy, but if he pulls an Halo Legends Theme- Multiple tracks featured japanese and or chinese themed music. That doesnt fit well, Master Chief is DEFINITELY not a space samurai.

Actualy, the music in the Halo 4 trailer is Halo 4 music, it’s not made by IGN. What you’re talking about is when someone at Halo Fest asked about the music in <mark>this</mark> Halo Fest Trailer. Frankie said that IGN used thier own music, which is <mark>this</mark> song by Two Steps from Hell.
So, we may hear the announcement trailer music in the game some time. I hope we do anyway.
I agree 100000000000000000000000000000000000% and then some. This new guy better not try any crappy ideas for Halo. I don’t expect the soundtracks to be too great though, Marty was an animal at giving me chills while listening to his music.
Hopefully the soundtrack is similar, but different too. Kinda like a mix, if you know what I mean.

They bought undying love from two steps from hell for Halo 4? 
I reckon the soundtrack will be similar to the Halo Legends one. I thought some of the songs on that were brilliant.
I agree. I’d be sad to see this track not return. This is the “epic Halo stuff is happening right now” music.
