In previous Halo titles, a Spartan would walk in complete silence with the only sound being from their footsteps. The armor was meant to be quiet so that the Spartan could travel quietly without an enemies hearing you. This was demonstrated in many missions in older halo titles. You could actually hear the surrounding environment, all the beautiful nature and weapons in Halo.
Then Halo 4 and Halo 5 came out… Everytime you took a step, you armor would make a clank clank clank sound and it would annoy the hell out of me. It doesn’t even make sense, a Spartan which has a billion dollar suit wasn’t equipped with a stealth mode. And everytime I watch a cutscene, the armour has that stupid sound effect and it ruins the feeling.
Examples: When Cortana “dies”, you want to listen to Cortana and Cheif speaking about their future. But instead, all you hear is armour clanking together.
I’m not trying to be picky, it’s just a issue that many other players and I have had a problem with. Does anyone agree with me?
It’s probably that the Spartans are hearing the steps due to their enhanced hearing and possibly microphones inside the helmet amplifying low volume sounds. This makes more sense than two tonnes of titanium being perfectly silent.
Doesn’t mjolnir power armor weigh about 1000 pounds, or a bit under a ton? It should clank clank.
I think the clanking makes it more realistic, but if it’s overdone, then it would get annoying. I actually never paid attention to the fact that there is no armor sound in the original games…
EDIT: When I saw the title of this topic, I was thinking someone was going to claim that armor in H5 sounds like “plastic”.

It’s not fallout 4 level power armor clanking, so if it’s not that annoying, I don’t see the problem.
