Many people are opposed to the new ADS (Aiming Down Sights) feature in Halo 5. I myself don’t necessarily oppose it, but I can understand why other Halo players might. However, the solution is quite simple. In order to satisfy everyone, the zoom feature could be made to work as follows:
Instead of being forced to aim down the sights, players could use the zoom feature found in previous Halo games by simply pressing up. This would activate the zoom feature found in previous Halo games. If the player wanted to switch back to ADS they could simply press the down on the D-pad.
I think this would satisfy both ends of the Halo community. Feel free to leave your own ideas down below.
I think what they should do to separate it from other games is keep the zoom on the right stick. That small change will drastically change how “Smart Scope” will both feel and be used. Other then that, from what they showed us smart scope will not be like normal ADS. What little gameplay they have shown us already confirmed that for me.

Well OP. I do find the idea quite interesting. But I’m confused to how it could work? A switch for both scoping systems? One of them will be abused and preferred over which one works better (One will be better than the other) if you know what I mean? My biggest reason to be against ADS, I’m sorry “Smart Scope” Is that I don’t think it can work with certain control schemes. For example, I’ve been using the Recon control scheme in every game since Halo 3. I don’t see how holding in the left trigger to scope will work. Usually we zoom in by Clicking the right thumbstick once and just fire away from there. Worked fine, did the trick.
Oh and I agree, the current weapon scopes look disgusting.

In Halo 4 the Fishstick control scheme mapped zoom to left trigger, but if you tapped it instead of holding it, it would simply zoom once and stay there, tap it again for second level zoom on snipers. It’s not as fast as using the right stick to click but I found not having to click the right stick helped stabilize my aim. There’s always Green Thumb with the zoom on the bumper.
343 have already said there will be legacy control schemes with right stick zoom and LT grenades. Aiming still works more or less the same way as previous Halos.

I disagree. Either the new zoom needs to go, or the old one get scrapped. 343i can’t possibly aim to please every single part of the community with dual options for everything. I want BTB with 32vs32 battles and I’m not gonna get that (which I totally accept).
343i needs to develop the game. They should listen to the feedback they are given and then make one choice that they think would be best for the franchise, and for the community. They shouldn’t have to create alternatives to please everyone.
I like every single thing in Halo 5 except for the look of the Prophets Bane and Ground Pound. But if they aren’t changed that is something I have to accept.

That’s not such a bad idea. Like how you can change the graphics in HCE. I don’t know how they can make it work on multiplayer though, is it possible to do that and not mess with the game mechanics too much? If its possible and doesn’t affect anything i said they should do it.
As long as zooming is mapped to my right analog stick still, it won’t even feel like ADS to me, it will just feel like zooming in Halo with a new animation.

yaaaaaaaaaaa, ADS isn’t forced, the only difference between ads and no ads will be magnification… Hip firing will be just as precise as when using the smart scope system
EDIT: Check your facts btw, smart scope/ADS is just reskinned zoom…
