Vampires are the single thing that would fix air being so superior. They are the reason halo wars 1 wasn’t overrun by banchees and they kept hawks in check. They are what hw2 has been missing that would really level the playing field.
They’re not gonna add a unit to counter air, people need to stop thinking this will actually fix it when they could you know, just buff wolverines.

There’s no reasonable buff you can give wolverine’s that deal with airs mobility, vampires are that solution

Yes there is, literally just buff their speed and range (maybe damage) and they’re fine.

Well considering wolverines countered them well in HW1 I think they could buff them…
no, hes right we need the vampire to come back so that all banished mirrors are is spamming anti air air units just like it was in hw1
Agreed. Decimus mains will probably stop playing the game though.
I just made a post suggesting counter units (anti-air air). I suggested that the hawk/vampire be re-introduced as counter air units that deal -80% (minus) damage to all units except air. It’s a role that is sorely needed.
What makes the idea of vampires so viable is the mobility. Sure if you sit 40 banches against 30 Wolverines I’m sure the Wolverines would crush them. But when an engagement happens and everyone drops their ability, by the end of it, there will be 12 wolverines left in red health and 36 banchees, over half of them undamaged because they could get out of the way.
To make AA more viable/reduce the dominance of air they just need to some of these three things:
-
reduce the Banshee Bomb damage to AA units (not reduce their overall damage since that would make them useless against regular units)
-
buff Wolvs in some capacity, either speed to match that of a warthog or dps by 5%
-
fix AA targeting so all AA unit missiles dont just aim for a singular unit
In halo wars 1, wolves had a tier 3 upgrade called dual launchers, that would probably help. Truth is you have to play aggressively, if you allow your enemy to mass air you’re wrong.
