The sniper on adrift is BS

not good. really, really not good. Adrift was perfect before. wth

A Sniper on Adrift…Why would a long range weapon be placed on a enclosed map. That’s pretty silly. A Shotgun would’ve been better. Right off the back, that map is meant for “Close Quarters”.

I agree that the sniper isn’t necessary the best choice of power weapon placement for Adrift, but in the hands of the right player it can be extremely valuable. There’s some decent sightlines to take advantage of (flag spawn to mancannons, top tube across the mech, etc.).

> I agree that the sniper isn’t necessary the best choice of power weapon placement for Adrift, but in the hands of the right player it can be extremely valuable.

I’ve actually had it as a Per. Ord Drop, and it does pay off if you ricochet the bullet off the walls, yet, its very difficult to aim with it, especially on the turns.

Are you joking?

The Sniper is perfect for Adrift… I mean look at all of those long sight lines and open vistas that are trivial to any Sniper’s success… (lol sarcasm)

Unfortunately, we can’t shoot through walls, and having the Sniper Rifle on that map makes it even more… DEPRESSING

If they are going to rethink having some sort of Sniper on Adrift, it should be the Beam Rifle. The Beam Rifle is much more viable in enclosed areas with it’s bullet magnetism that make’s the Large Hadron Collider look wimpy…

actually I was arguing its OP for the map. It’s really powerful down the hallways and across the middle room. You are nigh untouchable if you are good.

TBH with you…its not. The ONLY two enclosed maps, long range (Sniper, Binary, & Beam) are good on are:

Solace
Haven
Abandon

Adrift is more of a “Shotgun, Scattershot” map, IMO.

I concur…its not meant for that map. Like i mentioned previously, the Shotgun would’ve been better to have on that map. Since there’s a Scattershot on one side, why not have a shotgun on the opposite side.

omg no. Beam rifle shouldn’t spawn on most maps it is so OP, the most OP weapon I’ve ever used.

Just because a map is small it doesn’t mean it cannot house long-range weapons. I.E. Lockout and Guardian to name two of them.

I think the long sight-lines in some important choke points make the sniper a good choice for that map.

Before I bash 343’s decisions further I just want to say how proud I am of them for the update and that this game has never been better and actually feels like Halo which is one of the highest compliments I can give them. That said the map redesigns feel utterly thrown together and haphazard. Disappointed in that respect.

Vehicles and power weapons need to be very carefully placed and chosen per map. Just putting gauss hogs and sniper rifles doesn’t make people happy and hurts the gameplay, in the vein of personal ordinance.

Lockout and Guardian were Open 4v4 maps. If you look at Adrift, its like your too enclosed. Like if you picked up a Sniper on Lockout or Guardian, you are able to shoot someone across the map. Adrift, you really can’t unless you walk in and all of a sudden someone shoots you with the Bolthshot Charge.

Sure but certain weapons and vehicles are too distracting and game-changing on maps with said choke points.

Again, I’ll have to reference Lockout and Guardian. The sniper on each of those maps controlled the entire bottom and a good portion of the top of those maps.

It’s an incentive to push out from your spawn and control the map and power weapons. It is definitely more of a classic Halo feel there which is nice.

Agreed

Actually it makes Adrift less bad. It’s still not something I want to play unless it’s no radars though.

putting the sniper in is a good idea. it forces there to be some form of map control. something halo hasn’t seen in awhile. go play call of duty

completely unwarranted and hella rude.

first off I don’t touch COD, secondly power weapon (and vehicle) placement in their maps should be more conservative than what 343 seems to think is best - in other words two snipers on a medium sized map every 90 seconds or fighting off a ten ghosts in a game.

Never, and I repeat, NEVER in a past Halo game has there been an overabundance of vehicles or power weapons (which, BTW, is more akin to COD than my preference). This needs to stop especially since personal ordinance is already such a problem.

Then you just need to play smart with the sniper. Waste of a sniper if the player plans on running through the hall ways hoping was a noscope/snapshot.

Best to stay in the corners, and wait for players to come to you, so you have easy shots. You may need to build a camp fire as you wait.

The sniper completely changed the flag game I just played. It changes how Adrift is played for the better IMO.
