After many years of being lost, the Snake has returned. To many, it is a symbol of cunning and trickery, worthy of being their emblem. But to a few, it hearkens back to the days of yore, when it was emblazoned on the object at the heart of many a battle.
Alas, its true meaning is revealed! A symbol of red, a martyr of crimson, an icon of maroon! But it was not alone in this battle. It had a rival, just as cunning. The glorious Hawk! Two sides, locked in a battle as old as time itself. Where one ruled the ground, the other ruled the air. Where one hides in the shadow, another blocks out the sun. Together, they were more important than a soldier’s life.
But ho, where is its companion now? Adrift, in a sea of ignorance, forgotten by so many who held it true! How can this be? The Snake, found, commemorated, and reprised, but the Hawk, lost, abandoned, and gone. A terrible fate, to be sure. Even the Snake, its most hated rival, surely looks back on those golden days with a tear in its eye. Today, as we have for many years, we grieve for the Hawk. But let it not be so! Let us see the Hawk! Let us hold it high once more! Bring back the Hawk, lost, but not forgotten!
