The smart play here...

So since 343i is new to Halo, I think the smart play here would be to make Halo 4 a game very similar to Halo 2 and Halo 3, so that there’s no way they can mess up. Halo 2 and Halo 3 were both undoubtedly the most successful games of their time for the Xbox 360. That’s a fact. 343i is new, in order to prove to the fans and Microsoft that they can take on this task and take on Halo, they should stick to the basics for at least the first of their three halo games.

If you guys try too hard on this there’s a good chance you will screw it up. Just look at what Bungie did to Halo Reach. They tried too hard, thought they were going to make the game of the decade, and ended up with one of the biggest failures in recent video game history.

So stick to what you and everyone else knows will work, and then after you get on your feet, maybe try something new. No offense, but if you screw up Halo 4 it’s going to be nearly impossible to bring Halo back to the top. Two failures in a row makes the series unsalvageable. Halo 2.5 or Halo 3.5 is what you want to do here. No stupid AAs, no bloom, no catering to the casuals, etc. I still have faith, don’t let me down.

So just pull a Call of Duty and recycle every game.

He said to do it with only the first game of the new trilogy.

As far as graphics go I agree stick to Halo 2 and Halo 3 style. The multiplayer game does need innovation though, otherwise we’ll end up with Call of Halo. I’m not saying go with a whole new multiplayer setup, but they should add stuff that is new and fresh as well as keep the things that made halo 2/3 great (1 - 50 ranking system, BR, etc…).

It wouldn’t be unsalvageable if 343i actually wants to make a game which players will love.
Look at Sonic the Hedgehog, he had a long line of failed games until Sonic Colours and now those games are getting good again.

Just look at DICE as an example of not caring about the integrity of the series.
Battlefield used to be freakin awesome, but then DICE was blinded by money and the series is getting more and more CoD-like to appeal to their new fans…

Would it be worth it? Have a gameplay style people are familiar with and love and then just change it the next game. That’ll work.

Take all the good things from every game and mash them all into one amazing game. It doesn’t need to lean to close to one or the other.

eh no. Thats a terrible idea.

Reach was a SPIN OFF, it was supposed to be different. As for it being one of the biggest failures in gaming history, you clearly don’t know much gaming history. Halo Reach is among the best selling Xbox 360 games.
