That feature that I’m referring to is the location of on-screen crosshairs. From Halo 2 to Halo 4, the crosshairs have always been located slightly lower on the screen compared to other shooter games. However, in Halo 5, I noticed that the crosshairs are now in the very center of the screen, which I find to be extremely beneficial.
What do you think? Do you like the crosshairs being in the very center of the screen or would you rather they be lower on the screen (similar to Destiny)?
I always knew that the games after CE had it lowered. But I never actually knew why. Still don’t. Not sure i can think up a good reason for the lowered reticle. Or a good reason its good they put it back in the center. Someone, please explain.
I think ( do not quote me on this) it has something to do with FOV. With all this increased mobility we are gaining it seems that having it in the center helps balance it all out. Shot in the dark.
I think it used to be slightly lower than center to discourage what’s called “head glitching”. This is when you stand on a ramp or stairs at a perfect point where you can see/shoot over a ledge, but nobody can see you over the same ledge. I hope that makes sense, it happens all the time in “that other fps”, if you know what I mean.

I aways just figured it was a ‘well, your gun is below eye level, so you’re looking down, not tilting the gun up’ sort of thing. I prefer it in the bottom part in terms of how it looks in first person, but only until I put on the blind skull, then it throws me off.
Having a lower reticle gives you more screen free from hud elements between the top of the screen and your cursor. Meaning half your screen isn’t pointlessly taken up by the floor.
It also meant you would see more threats from above. Halo being a very vertical FPS, it was needed to really take in the map without taking your aim off the horizon all the time.
I won’t go in to arguments as to why it was removed.
