Agreed, though it did have to function on Xbox One aswell, were it not for that I think it would’ve been much more visually impressive
Did Halo 5 run well though? I seriously enjoyed it but there were a tonne of aiming issues that never got fully ironed out, heavy aim and such
This is not what we got…

Updates fixed the aiming issues within the first year and it wasn’t even an issue it was just a lack of aiming options
Last time I checked, Halo 5’s graphics weren’t all that out there either.
When has Halo been about gorgeous graphics?
Yeah unfortunately we don’t have a good idea of the timeline of the game’s development or who/how many people were working on what in the game. But when it comes to the graphics themselves, I feel they look good. I’m not picky and there are plenty of times where I thought the campaign and multiplayer environments looked cool. I also like the more matte and battered look of Master Chief and the other spartans. I think there’s a good middle ground between what would look like actual armor/materials used by a future military (besides cat ears lol) and a cool looking science fiction.
Why did they say it was a new engine if it’s just an updated version of the previous one. They made a big deal of that in the trailer few year back.
I mean playing it you can tell some of the animations are straight out of Halo 5. Whilst some people have managed to get Halo 5 weapons to spawn in like the SAW and Fuel Rod.
343 was hamstrung by making the game usable by XBOX One consoles. They should have leaned fully into the new generation and left the old stuff out. Of course a game designed to work on old gen plays and feels like old gen.
Marketing. It was outsourced as well, as far as I know it wasn’t even made by 343 lol. If you want a funny and profanity laced recap of said trailer I’d recommend King Thrash’s “Halo was 99% lies” video.
They do what a lot of devs do, rework it until it can be considered technically “new” when its just an iteration. Gambryo become “Creation” and Quake tech becomes whatever Activision calls the COD engine now (It started on one of the Quake engines way back when, 3 I think)
Iterations of old engines are fine, so long as they’re done well. Slipspace was not one of those.

(No space after Youtube; the last sentence of his video is hilarious.)
To everyone who watches his videos for the first time: It might be annoying to follow his kind of talking, but in terms of content he often nails it.
To be fair, Halo Infinite was in devolvement before Xbox Series even had final hardware. Keep in mind, Xbox waited for AMD’s Zen 2 to be final, they were cutting it very close.
I forgot about this one but… Again, profanity/trigger warning to overly sensitive viewers but seeing these two side by side (last gen vs “next gen”) pretty much sums up the failures and shortcomings of the Slipspace Engine.
I’ll just leave it at that.

(It’s actually “Youtu dot be”. We don’t like Youtube links for feedback and discussion on waypoint? Interesting lol)
At 05:48: “The brute is literally just standing there and daydreaming about “Horizon Forbidden West””.
This video shows very good, what the problems of Halo campaign graphics and boss fights are. You have to admit, that the texture resolutions and the colours are next gen at Halo, but the rest is just bland (some textures are really good, but many are not fleshed out at all), repetitive (there are more happy little trees than in all episodes of “The Joy of Painting” combined) or wrong (lightning, shadows etc.).
Imo it is very interesting, how Horizon FW on PS4 looks overall way better than Halo on X-Box Series X (if you compare the trailers at least).
That’s a toxic and ridiculous lie.
It’s not true for any of the other titles that have come out in the last 3 years, it’s just some nonsense that the 343DF started saying.
Bro, literally the environments are so dull and bland looking and the Pacific North West environments look like absolute crap. The dirt and grass looks pixelated and off. All the trees are nearly the same. There’s a lack of lushness and swamps. It’s just a big flat Greenland. When people keep saying the game looks impressive, I just don’t know what they’re talking about. The only thing that’s clear is the weapon in your hand looks good.
Honestly would have rather had a linear story that was well done than quite literally another generic open world forest game where the main appeal is ‘hunting’ targets. Open world and Battle Royale’s are the trend that NEED TO DIE.
Not so sure, it was a topic of debate throughout the entire life of Halo 5,
Heavy aim - halo 5 fixed this/ some people’s controllers were at fault.
Lack of aim options. Like acceleration. The default was 3. After the update 2 worked for me and fixed my aim.
Magnitism and aim assist were very strong. ( It’s just as strong in halo infinite)
So what else are we talking about here? Because my aim was spot on.
Ohhhh yeahhh. I remember. People couldn’t get used to snapping. You could flow your aim anymore. You had to snap, snap, snap, snap to aim. I preferred this a lot. Once you get used it, it felt great. To bad people left the game before learning it tho
Just because you liked it doesn’t mean it wasn’t massively controversial for years after it launched. I personally never had any issues with aiming in Halo 5 from the start, it is to this day my favourite multiplayer, but that is far from the the norm
Is this a proper place to say player collision needs to be on?
