or they could unlock the what, almost 20 prerendered maps it already has, that’s why that game is so dead there are only 3 maps in its quickplay
I know the grittier 343 art style of 4 and 5 had its fans and while I liked it CE has always had my favorite (just so you know my bias CE is also my favorite video game) so I do rather enjoy Infinites design. The gunplay in 5 just doesn’t feel good to me, it feels much more rigid and meant for the quick jerks of the thruster.
I didn’t care for any map in H5 and I do actually like Infinites. I don’t like playing on maps in matchmaking made in forge just because it feels lazy to me. The devs have better tools so they should make better maps. Now if they want to have special occasions where they show off the best forge maps by all means go for it I just don’t want it all the time. I also hated the Req and armor system as only being able to choose a helmet and then a whole armor set is the most restricted armor selection we have had since H2. Most of the weapon variants felt unnecessary and like filler to just say “look how big our weapon sandbox is” instead of them having meaningful impacts. That said I don’t know if I would want them to change the guns drastically anyways as it changes how the gun functions and pushes it to situations it otherwise wouldn’t be good in. At that point just give us a whole new gun.
The greatest thing Infinite did is give us an AR that isn’t absolute garbage. It can kill out to medium range and forces BR users to actually have to keep their distance. The BR isn’t OP anymore as it finally loses to many close range guns that in the past it easily beat even at close range. I just really like the sandbox of Infinite even if the ravager and pulse carbine really need buffs it still feels super balanced and like each gun has a place in the meta and not one just dominates it.
I know since H2 people got used to a “utility” weapon and then most other guns just support it but I hate that idea as I don’t think any game let alone an arena shooter like Halo plays good that way and CE wasn’t designed that way either. Each gun had a place and the pistol only ended up being as strong as it did when a dev secretly changed the damage numbers. Infinite feels closer to that original design of each gun having its place than any other Halo since CE.
Because it is. Or well, Idk what they got when they took over from Bungie, but Infinite’s engine isn’t new; it’s a modified version of the Halo 5 engine, which is a modified version of the Halo 4 engine.
No gaming company is making entirely new engines, even for entirely new IP’s.
What engine did we see in the halo infinite reveal all those years ago?
it was just trailer nonsense, look back at Halo 4 or Halo 5 or Halo 2 trailers and that sort of sums it up.
OP Idk what your talking about with the gameplay, that’s one of the the few things343 got right.
As for the engine and graphics. It looks worse than an XB360 game in some areas.
I made an open letter about this a couple of weeks ago, but in sommary:
-Explosions look straight out of 2003 (2d animated pictures)
-Dynamic lighting and textures are outdated. Where is the raytracing support?
-Draw distance and pop-in are terrible even on a high end PC
I think making the game run on the 9 year old Xbox One really took its toll.
I feel like the Infinite coating could look a little teeny bit more like Halo 3 (which I perceive as a bit more metallic looking,) but not all that much. I’ve been really impressed and satisfied with his look in Infinite, and it looks much much better than it did in 2020.
It really doesn’t make sense for Mjolnir to have “sheen/shine.” It’s battle armor, you wouldn’t want it to glint in the sun, or reflect it at all.
I was hoping that with the multiplayer coatings we would get some options that broke up the shape more, since that’s how camouflage works.
Everything doesn’t have to be perfectly realistic, but I don’t think super shiny armor makes much sense, and I much much prefer this look than 4 or 5, just like I preferred the Halo 3 look over 2 or 1. Just my two cents!
I wouldn’t say its shiny. Personally, it looks kinda flat to me. I still think Halo 2A or Halo 5 looks better. As far as “Open worlds” it might as well be a Xbox 360 game compared to something like Horizon. Even Ghost Recon Breakpoint has more going for it graphically.
As others have said its not new, its just the latest iteration of Blam! (Halo 3 > Halo 4 > Halo 5 > Infinite). Good old Phil Censor mandating it also run on that wildly outdated original Xbox didn’t help (5 consoles to develop for, yeesh).
An engine designed for linear, pre-baked “one and done” games that was poorly (very poorly) reworked for a semi-open world “live service” game. Mix in incompetent management from a company that prioritizes Twitter clout over raw talent and much like the upcoming TV show, it was a disaster waiting to happen.
Interesting time in history though, we get to watch billion dollar corpos burn their most popular IPs to the ground.
Actually I rather they didn’t do that. H5 is not Halo. H5 is speedy space power rangers.
With guns.
ngl they shouldve just used UE4. Its so much more reputable and its graphics can be amazing.
Now that you got your generic internet talking point out do you feel better? (Even though it’s a super dated and generally untrue stance to be taking)
Everything takes time to mature (you’ll get there too one day)
It took forever to master the old engine
343 will take full advantage eventually
Infinite, in my personal oppinion, looks worse. sure, in terms of artstyle it looks better. but graphics wise? compared to H5 it looks worse. as if it was still in a beta… the lighting is brighter than the darn sun on anything and everything, no dull colors, it feels like a unreal engine game rather than something ‘next gen’
the best part is they built that engine and didn’t even know how it worked
Think it has more to do with the fact that 343 video game makers are just incompetent.
It’s not generic, it’s basically the truth about H5. It’s obviously balanced around and heavily featured Spartan Abilities over the core Halo gameplay. As such it’s definitely not a Halo experience, its an experience of it’s own.
People have the right to frown upon this. You don’t sell someone Milk Coffee when they want it Black Coffee, even if Milk Coffee is literally Black Coffee + Milk. This is the same with H5.
Dislike and disagree
Halo 5 was already stretching the seams of the BLAM engine to the point where they had to make many controversial compromises just to make it run steadily. Compromises like dynamic resolution, low-fidelity textures, the lack of split screen, physics restricting the game to run at exactly 60 FPS, the original Xbox One as a baseline, among other reasons. Reasons like these prompted the developers to completely retool the engine for Halo Infinite just to keep up with modern demand.
Slipspace is not a brand-new engine, but a heavily modified rendition of the BLAM engine that Halo 5 ran on, likely to reincorporate features like split-screen, the removal of FPS caps, and accommodate modern graphical standards.
If Halo Infinite were to be developed on a more similar rendition of BLAM to what Halo 5 was, I imagine the same compromises would have to be made, but at the same time there would probably be more content. I’m also a believer that if Halo 5 could be supported up until now, they would have, but it was already reaching memory limits, plus porting it to PC would be a very difficult undertaking. It’s a shame because it’s my favorite Halo.
Where’s your proof that it will improve? I have 9 years of proof that it won’t and trust me, it’s verified.
Completely agreed! I very strongly prefer the Spartans’ designs in Halo 5 and older games. The Spartans in Halo 5, 4, Reach, HW1, and HW2? They LOOK like Spartans. What do Halo Infinite Spartans look like? Man children from the 22nd or 23rd century all wanting to win a contest of who looks the silliest. And yet the Halo fanbase asked for this? THIS IS UNFORGIVABLE!
