The sky isn't falling. So with data, lets finally put this one to rest

So your saying the game is more dead now than Halo 5 was at this point in it’s lifespan? I’m sorry, that’s just crazy talk. Halo 5 was dead almost as soon as it launched.(That is, as soon as everyone was done with the campaign!)

i log in once a week to check the ultimate and store i might, might play if there is something that i want like the pink skin we got during the cyber thing but other than that i stay away

very wrong H5 seemed to die when they removed the warzone assault playlist

My mistake, my knowledge of Halo 5’s lifespan is limited, at least on the multiplayer side of things.

Warzone Assault was so good, and it had the highest XP payout to time played ratio in the game. I just don’t understand why it’s population “died”.

The breakout refresh, Warzone assault removal, and Warzone boss refresh all had negative impacts on the game and playerbase imo

Bro you notice they have been extra silent and stayed away from the topic of Co Op campaign like I don’t even think they are working on it. I Mean as anticipated as that game mode is you would think they would give us like a update maybe hey we are still working on it. It’s getting there, I mean something.

My thing is I think it may be ready but they are holding on to it for Season 2. Which if it is the case that’s scummy.

Idk this game doesn’t have much to hold me interested for .ore than a round or two

343’s MO since release has been radio silence, they have acknowledged very little in terms of mistakes they have made; store prices, btb, XP payout, and cosmetics being off center. they have said nothing about cheaters, lag/desync, the random crashes, corrupt save files, broken UI, the various Nvidia issues, crap weekly rewards( i’m looking at you sacrifice emblem three weeks straight), and broken challenges not tracking. i could continue with the list but there are too many things wrong with this game to remember them all

It just doesnt have to offer enough… guns… in my opinion. I’d love to play the Mangler at round start… LOVE IT! But no, I spawn with Brr Brr every single round… it just gets boring. Its 2022, give me AT LEAST 2 guns to choose from.

Stats can be used in all sorts of ways to strengthen your own views, or weaken the opposing side.

The figures do look healthy on the True Achievements site, but I’m guessing (hopefully logically) that the people who register there (me included!) are going to be skewed more towards playing a game like Halo (hardcore gamer, for want of a better term )

I don’t think the stats from True Achievements can be uniformly extrapolated to the entire Xbox community as a whole

I consider a game dead when i find the same people in matchmaking very frequently, like in mcc. Infinite isn’t at this point yet but if 343 don’t fix the huge issues with the game it will be like the mcc soon

I already ran into the same people before so yes at times it is already like that.

I agree with you, and I do believe they can get the players back if they actually improved and made a lot of additions to the game. After all, it is free to play.

But as of right now, 343 imo hasn’t done enough. It needs an overhaul. Change the progression system. The challenge system SUCKS. Spartan rank needs to come back.

I also want to play CTF and just CTF sometimes or OBJ game types. It had the player base at launch to have quite a few modes available, yet they had it so barebones.

Halo is a ground breaking, record breaking, game franchise, who has the backing of Microsoft, just came out after 6 years of development, and has 20,000 less concurrent players than Destiny 2 which is old enough to ride the bus to school. Steam charts are a metric with a sample size of 100,000 people, which is used to predict the behavior of a population…sky is falling.

The thing is that their “slice” of the pie is 2.5% of the overall (roughly). So it isn’t a small sample by any means.

Even by itself, that puts 250k weekly just from the TA sample. Not accounting for the other 97.5MM+ other players on xbox. So it’s almost a given that the actual player count is some multiplication of that sampled pool.

If their 2.5MM player sample reflects the overall community on Xbox? That puts the weekly players on xbox at 2.5MM. If its like you suggested and its reflecting a sample that is more savy to play games like Halo, then it might only be a few times the sample size.

The thing to keep in mind though is their tracking generally aligns directly with Xbox’s reveled “popularity” list. Which does indicate that their sample does closely mirror what the overall community is playing on the platform.

So while it’s likely not 2.5MM players exactly, it’s fairly safe to say that the numbers playing aren’t a drastic deviation from that number. But even 50% of that is obviously a healthy engagement weekly.

The issue though, is that while i used No Mans Sky as an example of the comeback story, H:I is nowhere close to “dying” like how No mans sky actually did. Or anthem, CS:GO, or FFXIV.

The point I was making was if games that were actually truly “dead”, were able to have a resurgence post-launch… then it should go without saying that Halo Infinite, a game that is nowhere close to dead, has even more potential to make a comeback.

CS:GO 3 months after launch had 20k concurrent peak players. With Steam being the only platform the game was even available. Yet now, it’s consistently the most played game on steam, with 900k+ players concurrent peak.

So if halo can be on its death bed with 750k-1M or so active players (on the low end), I’m not so worried that it’s going to be just fine in the long run.

I mean it is expected to drop on steam. Steam mostly has mnk players. If you played the game on mnk and controller you know how much better controller feels. Given that the controller completely destroys mnk in ranked it is a given that mnk players will just quit. Why play a game that doesn’t respect you and handicaps you just by using mnk? The performance difference between these two inputs is not even close. Even pros said mnk has no chance at competing ever. How does that make the mnk users feel? On top of all of that 343 is completely apathetic towards the imbalance and so far has addressed nothing and announced nothing.

I am bored with the game I hate to say. I would be playing the hell out of BTB if vehicles were actually available and don’t blow up like paper. Also progression system is really bad. No real incentive to play tbh
