This is just something that’s been bugging me. Why are the skulls so easy to find in Halo 3? Like Mythic for example. It’s just in a very clearly-visible side passage at the beginning of the level. A six-year-old could find it. Famine… actually is hidden well, I love how you have to kill a flood to get it XD. But IWHBYD… oh boy. Jump through some hoops. Anyone remember Halo 2’s IWHBYD and the legendary process it took to get it?
Just me sort of venting. Do you guys agree?
Nope, because without some hackers looking at the game’s code I guarantee you IWHBYD would’ve been much harder to find.
But now that it HAS been found, it’s laughably easy.

That goes for pretty much anything though. A thumbless monkey could follow a Youtube walk through.
TODAY they are easy to find, you just go to youtube to know it.
but 6 years ago…?
I’m glad the skulls are easier to obtain but are well hidden (some of them, not all really), Halo 2’s Legendary run was a frustrating grind.

But could a thumbless monkey kill almost 30 Elite Ultras?

Yes? It’s not like it’d happen overnight, but it’s impossible to say it wouldn’t be able to do it eventually.
At least the skulls aren’t unlocked right away like with Reach and 4 - gives players the fun of trying to find them if they don’t want to use a guide.
Okay, perhaps I was wrong and biased. I just simply found Halo 3’s to be too easy compared to Halo 2’s, and I just simply found H2’s to be more fun to look for. I respect the opinions of everyone here.
With a walkthrough anythings easy. Don’t come here and act like you found them all by yourself. IWHBYD is pretty much impossible to figure out without a walkthrough.

Well, yes. People can just look up a tutorial on YouTube.
BadDog, I already stated that I was being biased and that I apologize for sounding like a snob.
(but yes, I found 4 of the Halo 3 skulls myself. Just sayin’!)

I found tilt by accident. I wanted to snipe at the flood while my buddies took point, so I hopped up.
I did not get the achievement, which sucked, because I fell and left it up there.
Clone, while it’s true that H3 skull hunting is a downgrade from Halo 2, we should at least appreciate how they are hidden in H3.
I highly doubt that you would’ve found even half of those skulls without the guide you were probably using.
They are easy with a guide but without one it could be a challenge.
At least they were actually hidden. One of my biggest disappointments with 4 right there. If they were harder than Halo 2’s, then I think the Mythic community would have been a LOT smaller.
@Avenger:
It was day one. Assassins, Iron, Thunderstorm and Mythic all found. Saw the Blind skull on Cortana but didn’t actually grab it.

Never heard of the Assassins skull before.

I think it’d be appropriate if you used more familiar terminology around these parts.

The first skull on Sierra 117 was originally named Assassins and the skull on Cortana was originally named Blind. They both have the same effect.
