The Skewer in the current state is too powerfull, one shot one kill no matter where you aim and also HITSCAN. This is insanely broken and needs some sort of balance.
Right now a good player is garanteed to get 4 kills with it, you might argue “reload speed”, but if you got some brain, you will reload at the right time.
There’s also the case “but you just rush him with the team to kill him”, this is still a sign of absurd power, you cannot concentrate a full team on one guy, he also still might get 1/2 kill before dying.
Coming from high level OW, I don’t wanna see a Widowmaker 2.0 and having something as broken as her in this game just make me sad…
You might argue that all of this could be applicated with the S7 too, but I think the sniper have more counter-plays.
Anyway, I personally think it need some sort of rework, like making it projectile, or balance fix, like lowering the player speed, or even buffing the shield deployament so it can kinda counter better both the Skewer and S7.
What you guys thinks?
Reload at the right time? It has a magazine of 1. The Rocket Launcher is 1-shot with the same precision, but with the addition of splash damage, and also has a magazine of 2. The Skewer is fine, and Widowmaker isn’t a comparison when the Skewer is a Power Weapon — it’s meant to be powerful.

Rockets are projectile and slower, you can have time to place a shield or to move fast enough with an ability. The Skewer just one shot you.
I honestly think the Skewer is fine. It’-Yoink!- scan? I have had my reticule red when firing and a bot was still able to barely dodge it. I haven’t honestly seen anyone go that crazy with it.
Unlike a lot of other 1 hit kill weapons this one’s downside is having only 1 round. The binary rifle for example has 2 shots but it’s downside is that the laser is visible when aiming. Rockers are slower but have splash damage. I think the Skewer is fine where it’s at
I might just be -Yoink- with it, but I barely seem to be able to land shots with it, and I know I’m not the only one. I think it’s fine as is.
I guess we should see some pro player with mouse and keyboard with it, but on my view are always 4 guaranteed kills on their hands.
I feel like the long reload time and the fact that you have to reload after every shot really helps balance out the Skewer. If you whiff a shot (not impossible given how perfect accuracy can’t be expected of players), you can easily get dunked on by another player. Hell, even if you kill one, a second player might be enough to ruin your day, depending on what weapon they’re running. The Skewer feels more like it’s made for long-range sniping of vehicles given the scope on it and the long reload time. The map I’ve played doesn’t have vehicles, so the Skewer probably feels more dangerous than it is.
Even discarding these factors and assuming it is overpowered? Well, that’s the purpose of Power Weapons. They’re designed to swing a game in favor of whichever team owns the weapon by allowing for very fast kills. They might be considered a comeback card if your team’s doing badly, because you could snag the Skewer and use it against the enemy team to score some important kills and help your team get a chance at victory again.

Im in the same boat. At the firing range I barely managed to get 3 stars on all levels. It’s a one-hit kill weapon but extra tight precision and reload speed balance it out, I reckon.
tbh i think its fine, Ive used it once & didnt get a kill on instand. unless you land a chest or headshot its not a insta-kill

Yeah there’s literally nothing wrong with the weapon as is. People need something to whine about.
I, truthfully, see no problem with the Skewer; I’m not sure you can necessarily directly compare the SPNKR and the Skewer due to the SPNKR being a slower, blast-affected power-weapon, and the Skewer being something that of a heavy-duty harpoon-like launcher… anyways, the Skewer, I see no problem with; although, due to my limited experience with the weapon, I’ll have to use it some more. Plus, I don’t think that you can really compare a character, like Widowmaker, or her sniper rifle to a Harpoon gun. I will say that the Skewer is really fun to use though!

Surely you could say this with any Power Weapon…? Kinda the point of the players being pros.
Most players won’t hit all four, and if they do, they won’t do it consistently. It’s a massive spike that can topple vehicles — it’s going to kill a Spartan. It’s a weapon in-between the Sniper Rifle and Rocket Launcher.
Its a single round mag projectile , it is not hit scan , if someone is on the move and far away you need to lead your shot.
I havent seen anything crazy with it , hell most just avoid using it entirely even more so then snipers in general.
The Skewer is actually really bad as anti-infantry. It’s projectile, and easy to miss with. 343 even stated it’s primarily meant for vehicles in their preview videos. It might be an issue with magnetism and aim assist if they’re overbearing, but outside of that? I think it’s a non issue. The weapon is unreliable enough against infantry that I’m willing to skip out on it entirely in favour of equipment without a vehicle on the field.

I mean, I don’t agree with OP, but there’s nothing wrong with respectfully bringing up your concerns as they did.
Some people here seems to don’t understand the difference between Hitscan and Projectile, so just to clarify, the Skewer itself is Hitscan, the shot HITS INSTANTLY as soon you press without any type of heavy fall of / delay, just like the S7. Even if The gun model itself have a big heavy thing, doesn’t mean it’s not a Hitscan gun.
I advise those people to simply check the SPNKR vs the S7/Skewer in game, or some vids online. Something that shot a thing that gets to the target instantly, is HITSCAN.
About the rest, Power Weapon doesn’t mean broken, anything should have some sort of counter play still, for example the energy sword is usually a 1 shot 1 kill, but you can simply run away… With the Skewer you have basically infinite range, you might lose in a 2v1 at close, but still might, one click and is a 1v1, swap guns, throw nade, and you have a 50% chance to still survive.
The Skewer needs to be more similar to a rocket, projectile, slower shot than the S7 but faster than SPNKR. This should increase the skill gap and also be A LOT worst at close.
Tbh I was especting a bit more “technical comments” , but most of you guys just wrote “I can’t aim with it / Idk how to use it so it’s balanced” lol

This seems like a very negative response to feedback. If you state you have a problem, and the entire comment board is saying maybe you should chill, then maybe it’s not as much of a problem as you think. The skewer is an excellent ranged power weapon with a small ammo pool and plenty of room for error. It does exactly what it is designed to do and with how slowly it rotates into the fight it will never break the game. The worst it can do is turn a close game into a tied game, or widen a gap slightly. Not something to worry about.

Look, you keep saying it’-Yoink!- scan but I just don’t see it. I have been seeing plenty of streamers miss with a red reticule and even have it happen to myself.
Its hard to use especially with Infinites lack of magnetism and AA. I even try to let another person get it because I’m just not accurate.
Only problem i see is it doesn’t turn Spartans into kabobs on the wall.

Oh! So you just saw a streamer using it! I’m sorry you must be right, I only tried in game, but yeah watching streams is easier to understand how a gun works! /s
