The Skewer is too strong against the Warthog

After testing, I’ve determined the minimum damage required to 1-shot kill the Warthog with the Skewer with a few main weapons.

Assault Rifle - 34 bullets
Battle Rifle - 11 bursts
Commando Rifle - 34 bullets

With the addition of the Skewer presumably taking the place of the Spartan Laser, I was hopeful that the Warthog would be a little harder to take down. The laser was extremely powerful and made vehicular play difficult in Halo 3 and Reach (think of Sandtrap).

The Skewer is arguably easier to use, and with the minimum requirement to 1-shot kill the Warthog, I fear we’ll run into the same problem.

Proposed solution: Decrease the damage dealt to the Warthog by the Skewer and increase its physics displacement. The Skewer should mainly send the Warthog flying and rolling as its main effect against it. By decreasing its damage against the Warthog, there are more opportunities for those wild moments where you’re flying through the air in the Warthog hoping to land safely.

What do you all think?

I think it’s fine as is for arena. Will have to see how vehicles are in BTB. Vehicles seem to be fairly balanced because you can deal quite a bit of damage to the enemy team with them but also can get destroyed pretty quickly because of the tight space and plenty of anti-vehicle weapons and equipment on the map.

My only issue with Behemoth is that it shouldn’t be a CTF map. It should be a strongholds map.

I would have liked the skewer to do less damage but pin the vehicle in place for an extended period of time so you can assist and throw everything you have at it then.

I don’t mind it being high damage though, I have to say the Spartan Laser always felt really easy to use. Almost impossible to miss a vehicle, very difficult to miss a human too. Whenever we played Standoff the laser was guaranteed 4 kills, usually 5 but everyone is human

Another odd thing to note, at least for the Ghost: there’s seemingly no damage to the vehicle when driving directly into walls or other geometry. You just bounce off and nothing happens.

Get the skewer then? Is just like the rockets so I’m not sure how this would be an issue.

As op as the vehicles in this game feel, I don’t think anything that can effectively kill them should be nerfed. The Skewer is fine as is, it’s not super easy to use and it punishes you royally for missing with that long reload time.

The rockets have very slow travel time.

The Skewer is extremely easy to use, especially on such a small map. The nerf wouldn’t kill its viability, it would just make displacement a more common thing which is fun. Hell there are two Skewers and one Warthog.

The Skewer also is more of a precision shot. Are we going to talk about how the Warthog kills people too easily now too? Not everything should be based on competitive.

I’d say the Skewer is harder to use than the Spartan Laser because it’s projectile based and the round starts to drop off at long distances. I think it’s fine for now.

No it’s not. At close range it isn’t very hard to use, but with drop and travel time, longer ranged shots require you to do basic geometry in your head that most people are incapable of doing because most people don’t brain so good

You’re possibly right. I’ll have to see how it plays out over time to make a determination for sure—I have probably jumped the gun. Just something to be aware of though for future vehicular gameplay I suppose.

Truly love this idea could see a lot of fun things happening
