Not to see who is higher rank
Not to see who can kill faster
Not so people can “have something to shoot for”
The point of a ranking system is to pair players with equal(ish) skills with one another.
visible or not, THAT is the point. I’m indifferent if they have invisible ranking, but I do care that we have ranking at all. I see tons of threads saying that the invisible ranks alone will cause them to give up buying an amazing game because ONE feature isnt in. you can argue how important that feature is, but it’s one feature none the less.
Reach didnt have ranking, yes, and people were dissapointed, yes, but it still lasted longer than the 3 months people predicted halo 4 would “Last”. if we have ranking, that is good. if we have invisible ranking, that is not worse. if we have visible ranking, that is not better.
It’s like saying someone who was starving was craving for a pound of steak, but instead got a pound of chicken with the exact amount of meat on it. They’re not gonna complain that it isnt steak. they’re starving, so they’re gonna eat the chicken and enjoy that they have SOMETHING to eat. just like we have a ranking system AT ALL.
Invisible ranks that pair people with others of their skill > no ranking at all
Actually i disagree with some parts. I think if they wanted to do this they might. 343i could have a “casual” rank like reach and then a skill one for all or some playlists. And i think higher ranks are what you should strive for personally.

That’s a terrible comparison, I’ll die without food! But I can live with black ops 2 and a ranking system in that game or even halo 3 for that matter.
