In previous games, the shotgun was one of the most praised weapons on the map. It was feared because it was a killing machine.
In Halo 4, however, the shotgun and scattershot are lacking in the area of range. It can take 3-4 shots at a common short-medium range. Honestly unless you are point blank, the AR is better.
In tight corridors the Scattershot and Shotgun are lethal. They are CQB weapons after all. You just have to get in the enemies face at extremely close range. Then they become one shot weapons.
I see no problem with either. The ROF on the scattershot is high, and the shotgun is as lethal as its ever been if not more so. Hell in Halo 3 it had a range of like 1 foot, at least now it is SLIGHTY more lethal beyond right in your face range.
I don’t particularly like using the Scattershot, but it definitely is lethal in enclosed spaces. I’ve actually gotten kills from the Grave using it somehow.
I think it’s because bullets ricocheted off the walls and killed me before killing my target. It was so chaotic that I really couldn’t tell what was going on, other than the fact that neither of us was left standing after the shot went off.

I feel like it doesn’t get anywhere near the range it should have though. Have you used it on Haven? I am always at least one shot by the time I actually kill someone with the scattershot. I don’t feel like power weapons are as game changing in Halo 4. (Well, besides for the sniper.)

Yup, used both plenty of times during Regicide, Odd Ball and Flood. I think I got an overkill with the scattershot in Oddball and a triple kill with the shotgun in Flood on Haven.
Agreed. The Scattershot is just a spam weapon and it’s bounce seems to have limited practical use.
Also, I hate Battlewagons. They represent the perfect form of a CE Zealot but their use of that weapon makes them unpleasant to fight. They’re simply unappealing, especially when they’re spammed at us. I’d rather see them with no weapon and having unique combat. I had more fun fighting Chieftains in ODST Firefight, Ultras in Halo 2 on LASO, and Zealots in the T&R.
Considering that the Boltshot is a loadout weapon, I do agree that I’d like to see some more power in the Shotgun/Scattershot. I won’t lose any sleep over it, but I agree that the thrill of getting a Shotgun just isn’t what it used to be in the other games.
I really hate the scattershot its nearly useless close range and is better used medium range, while the shotgun kills people from a suprisingly long range, it seems like double the shotguns range was in reach.
