I know everyone here despises microtransactions, but the shop could atleast be a little larger when it comes to offering stuff. 4-5 items in the shop with 1-2 of them being daily, and now individidual items being sold but are put on weekly rotation? Since you are selling stuff individually now, the shop should be larger rather than be extremely limited to a few items, should just give a whole section dedicated to coatings. Also, dont make individual pieces ridiculously overpriced. $7 for a helmet, $6 for a kill effect? Seriously? Also, get rid of embles ( both weapon and armor) and nameplates out of the shop, nobody want that crap in the shop. You are literally putting that stuff in their to justify the price for the bundles.
I don’t think 343 understood what we were talking about when we said we wanted to be able to buy things separately. We didn’t mean to divide up all the bundles into individual items for the shop and then put them in weekly rotation. No, we wanted to go to buy things that were in the bundle IN THE BUNDLE individually. We wanted to click on a bundle, click an item, and buy just that item in the bundle.
Separating all the bundles into individual pieces is now going to take 10 weeks longer to buy a normal 10 item bundle. That’s agonizing.
Just rip off Destiny a bit more and make an Eververse catalogue. 343 can’t actually be this clueless, and this is just a very awful approach for a bandaid. I don’t even know what made them think it was a good idea to have three weekly items and one daily
Actually, no, I take that back. This is intentional. They took the opportunity to milk content drops out as far as possible to stretch the 6 months until season 2. They took the IV drip, and put it in another smaller IV drip
I still think it’s a bit to overpriced in that game too but Sea of Thieves store allows you to pick items out of the bundles they have available and they’re a Microsoft studio so why can’t 343 do the same? Pretty much most of the other MS studio games I can think of have a better store.
Sea of Thieves, Forza, Gears all have better store setups in some regard. SoT you can pick what you want out of bundles, Gears 5 has a separate in game currency you earn by playing the game after it being exclusive for a week for people who do want to pay, Forza has loads of stuff to earn in game so you feel like you aren’t forced to buy anything from the store (I don’t play Forza much but the prices I’m pretty sure aren’t that bad). The more Infinite is out, the more these decisions seem like a 343 move rather than a Microsoft move which honestly is pretty sad if you ask me.
I’d like to see an expansion of selection in the Store myself, but at the moment its pretty clear at this point as to how low current offerings are and that the Store update of breaking up the bundles was meant to stretch what little they have a bit more.
They don’t need to stretch anything out though. They could have day one just put everything up in the store and let us buy what we wanted. This IV drip of store content is meant to encourage FOMO. That’s why they highered psychologists. To manipulate people. I’m not okay with that. Just let us buy what we want. And if it’s good enough they’ll make money. If it’s not good enough they won’t. Don’t manipulate people.
Valid points and ones that I agree with. Really want to just see what they have and let me pick for myself.
Not just FOMO, but they’re also artificially inflating their player numbers this way, similarly to the Winter Contingency event. Sure, they’re abusing FOMO to get people to buy stuff out of not missing out if it doesn’t return for a year or ever again, but they keep boasting about their millions of players, when I guarantee hardly anyone actually regularly still plays.
That’s more like the total number of accounts that have played at least once, including people like myself on GamePass, Steam, and Xbox, making up possibly 3 unique device count plays as a single account.
Anything to fluff up those numbers to make the game seem like it’s thriving and doing very well, when in reality people are playing against their better interests for FOMO. That’s why many games have a daily login bonus, to encourage daily play, to max out the battle pass faster or gain more credits or whatever. Battle pass is the only reason to bother with daily XP boosts if you bought the pass and haven’t already finished
