The scripted death animations in halo 4

One thing that really bothers me in halo 4 is the death animations are always scripted unless killed by an area of effect weapon.

For instance, in halo reach when you shot a brute(interchangeable with any other enemy) in the head with a precision weapon, most of the time it would result in a physics related death that felt natural and was realistic. If he was running at you and you shot him in the head, the top of his body would fall out from underneath it, feet first, as if he actualy absorbed the impact. Sometimes there was a scripted death animation(in the case of the brute they would shoot into the air and turn their heads right), but most of the time is was physics deaths.

In halo 4 every death is a scripted animation, like in halo ce. It just doesnt feel as natural.

Is anyone else bothered by this?

I had not noticed or cared until I read this. After reading this, I still don’t care.

I agree, and I did notice some animations were copied over from Reach.

Thanks for the bump. Also enjoy your +1 post count.

Actually, I prefer scripted death animations, I think they look more natural.

I dont think they’re a bad thing, i just think they should have kept the ratio at 50/50. Its actualy more programing work to do scripted deaths.

only one that bugs me is the elite headshot, cause very elite dies the exact same way.

I’ll get over it.

YES THIS!

It seems the only death animation for elites is for them to stand up strighter, -Yoink- their head to one side, and shoot into the air.

You are welcome. I’m also completely concerned with my post count. This will add another number to my post count.

I just don’t understand. Out of all of the problems Halo 4 has, this is the one you choose to make a thread about?

That all depends on the physics or what the scripted animations look like.

I mean GTA IV, for instance, has characters that react better than anything to getting shot. And it’s all because of the physics.

Ce/2/3/odst/reach also had scripted death animations.

Death animations look great now. Halo 3 was silly but made me lol and Reach was a bit dull IMO.

There are already threads implemented for those other so called “problems”. I made one that was not brought up. If i just made one about a known problem that would be spam. Dont you know how this works? You dont understand.

Yes, and to be exact halo 2, Odst, and reach also had physics deaths. 3 did not.

> Ce/2/3/odst/reach also had scripted death animations.

Yes, but that was because the physics wasn’t good enough to provide physics deaths. Reach was brilliant. I don’t know why Halo 4 uses so many scripted ones.

Scripted would be those Elites getting slammed hard by Knights on Forerunner (i.e. Knight knocks 2 Elites out of their Ghosts).

The death animations in Halo 4 are supposed to be a return to CE and I like them better. Much more believable. They stagger back, they clutch their stomach. More interesting than spinning (Halo 3 Brute death).

So I wasn’t the only one who noticed all the elites die in the same way.

I definitely wouldn’t call most of the issues with Halo 4 “so called problems” lol

Your issue is all based from opinion and personal preference.

Sweet, “Death Animation Complaint” was what I needed for Forum Bingo.

Full house or a line??
