The Scattershot has been nerfed.

Sooo… The Scattershot.
Pre-Feb Update, the thing had MASSIVE range. It could OHKO from point blank to about 6-7 meters.
After the update, I realized the scattershot could only OHKO up to 4 meters.
From what I’m getting, the Scattershot HAS been nerfed.
Is anyone else seeing this?

All I noticed is that the Scattershot was garbage before and is still garbage.

It used to be one of my favorite weapons.
Now, it’s Meh…

More reasons to never use this weapon ever again

Bruh, it was always a point-blank-only OHK. You must of been hitting enemies that were already damaged.

WOOOAH NO WAY?!

But in all seriousness, yes, it has been nerfed quite badly.

Naw man. They were full health.
Now it only OHKO’s further than 4m if they are damaged.

Nerfed? it was a piece of trash from launch. Its so inconsistent. I can put it in some1’s mouth and not kill them but yet I can be one shotted with the thing from 10 yards away it. Other times, it actually works like you would think it should. The inconsistencies make it not worth using over a shotgun.

So that’s why it takes 3-4 shots to kill someone.

I never understood what they were trying to do with it in Halo 5. In Halo 4, its niche was being the faster-firing semi-automatic shotgun with less damage and greater focus on open combat instead of instant kill ambushes. In Halo 5, it’s basically the same as the shotgun. Very similar fire rate, same magazine capacity and reload speed, and the only advantage being its slightly longer range/tighter spread when zoomed, which is kinda pointless considering its damage is weaker so you’re still dealing a similar amount of damage to the shotgun at that range. I think 343 intended its homing ricochet effect to be its defining trait, but it’s so incredibly useless. I’ve never seen a ricochet home after someone, let alone do any meaningful damage worthy of wasting a shot.

Have you time-traveled here from October 27th 2015?

Personally, I consider Scattershot more of a trash, than a garbage.

It does slightly more damage when Smart Scoped, and it has a much tighter spread. You may have been using that more often before, and now using it regular think it’s nerfed.

Also, it is a true scattershot in this game – it bounces of things then has a slight homing after the bounce. The H4 bounce mechanism was useless. The H4 scattershot was a noob shotty, the H5 is a pro shotty.

Use it in tight spaces for maximum effect. Use smart scope whenever possible.

In fact, the main forerunner weapons have gotten more pro overall. Inceneration cannon – have to charge to get that big deadly blast. Scattershot – actually have to aim and be on target instead of the spamming the trigger. Binary Rifle – have to hold beam on target for a few tenths of a second instead of hitscan OHK. Light Rifle – less forgiving hip fire bc of single shot vs burst; less zoom magnification for Smart Scope.

Supressor and Boltshot are the only ones that aren’t ‘pro’ versions of their H4 analogues, but actual redesign. Both have homing, but supressor takes knowledge of the weapon to use effectively (ramp up/warm up), and the boltshot is no longer a pocket shotty at least.

I JUST read that post.

If it got nerfed I’mm not picking it up because it sucks clearly…I used to be able to bounce back maneuvering corners with the scattershot I’m hoping it’s not nerfed…

When I use the scatter shot now I feel like I have to be right next to them to get a kill.

I compare it to shooting a spit wad at someone

This

Its a rare REQ that plays like a common…no even worse a pea shooter

You know this morning i was confused by this and wondered this. I was using and legendary scattershot and i was at a close range and fired it into a guy a few times and they just spread everywhere not like usual. Just seemed a little off to me
